New keeper but some things never change

Our opponents will always score with their first chance after we’ve missed 3 or 4 good opportunities

Frustrating game, but take nothing away from Spurs, they were simply just better than us. Some stud checks are in order, too. Never seen us slip around so much.

A hoo doo club out of the way in the second game is good though. We get our shit together ready for next weekend.

Go on City!
Glad someone has said it early, that was terrible but partly because Spurs never gave us a second. Rare for me to have a good word for them but they played well today.

OK, tell me again how 2025 Premier League football is NOT about size, speed and strength!!

Beaten all over the park. Two attempts on goal, one in each half. Muscled out of everything and let the ref make the decision…and this one wasn’t interested.

Trafford didn’t cover himself in glory and looked like he was trying too hard to please the Boss…and fluffed his lines!

Second goal killed the game, although we were second best to everything and never looked much like scoring after Marmoush fluffed his lines, too.

Cherki looks a luxury we might not be able to afford in some games, and the Peps really need to look at themselves for sending that midfield out against their 5. Shocking call!

Hopefully, that defeat has come early enough to wake a few people up to where we REALLY are against a team that both presses high and has speed to break.

I believe we need some bottle in midfield (NOT Rodrygo!) and need to sort out the Ederson-Gigi issue, because Trafford needs a couple of Cup runs to get some experience at this level, this speed, this level of ability.

Viana needs to open his Portuguese Rolodex and give Varela or Hjulmand a call, because we are a soft touch against size, speed and strength with purpose.

Well and truly beaten today and said as much to a Spurs friend today. I think that’s as comfortable of a smackdown as one could have even imagined given City were fielding our “summer prizes”!!

Next 3 games are looking a lot tastier now, and they were already pretty tasty!!

Stop Panicking.

It's a rebuild and there will be growing pains.

Trafford was solid and didn't do anything wrong!!

Deserves to be our number #1. For everyone complaining I don't see you doing any better than him and he showed his grit with that double save!

Trafford did nothing wrong? Excuse me but did you see him get away with a totally deserving red card, a goal he gave away, and the plenty of times he shat himself when passing out the back?

Nowhere near good enough in most places on the pitch today. Second best to everything. Doesn't look like the defending has improved from last season. Hoping it's just a case of the new additions clicking sooner rather than later, but that seems like wishful thinking right now.

Bollox Bobb was good today
You can see it in him. He's got great feet and decisions making. he doesn't press with the rest of the team but then we seem to have stopped doing that. I think that requires coaching so it'll never happen.

Bwahah

Bwahahahaha fuck off. Trafford absolutely shit his pants.

You an Ederson outer i guess?

FUCK OFF! I want Eddie to stay.

Clowns have blamed Ederson for years and now blame Trafford and hope for Donnarumma papering over cracks when he's even more shit with the ball and Enrique clearly wants a keeper than can play better with his feet.

Hope Donnarumma fucks off to the rags!

A Serious Reality Check...

I watched back last week's match against Wolves twice, because I didn't see the performance live that many City fans & pundits would have us believe, & so today proved.

Before we start to lose our collective minds, it's only our second game of the new transitional season. Strangely, I'm not too concerned by our tepid performance, as I think this painful defeat could be the best thing that could happen to us. It'll bring us back down to earth & give us a sense of realism & perspective.

The Turning Point...

The key moment in the match was the injury to Ait Nouri & him subsequently having to go off. We lost his threat going forward which gave Porro the confidence to venture further forward than he had done up to that point. This is when the tide began to turn. Spuds grew in attacking confidence, & we visibly shrank & looked unsure of ourselves.

Reijnders & Cherki looked lost. Gonzalez was trying to cover our lack of central midfield structure on his own, which was impossible against such a strong, effervescent Spuds midfield three. We got bullied & had no strength to fight back.

Oscar Bobb was almost anonymous, & every time he received the ball, Spuds doubled/trebled up on him forcing him to either play the ball back, or he lost possession.

Moose had a rampaging start to the game, but quickly lost his effectiveness after the injury to RAN. Haaland put himself about, but we were seriously profilgate with the limited chances which came our way in a match against a top opponent.

If Reijnders & Cherki weren't aware of what the Premier League was all about, they are now. Reijnders was given the freedom of Molineux against Wolves, but today he was strangled & had no answers.

Cherki seemed shocked by the pace, power & lack of space he was afforded in his first serious test in the PL. As soon as he received the ball, Spuds showed him zero respect & jumped on him & he kept looking over to Pep as if to say "WTF is this? What should I do?", but he'll learn.

I'd rather get a collective poor performance like this, & the reality check it brought about, out of the way as early possible, so we have time to address the issues our disjointed display exposed.

Congrats to Spuds. I fuckin hate the bastards, but they played their game, remained solid & took their chances. It was City who looked flaky & as solid as wet bog paper in our first home game.
Not using Artificial Intelligence by any chance are you?

I expect to see this a lot as we finish 4th. The Rebuild™

Very poor performance overall

Reminded me of the rags game from last season

Biggest worry for me was the lack of character and bravery on the ball in the second half

We looked much better with Rodri and Foden on

I was saying before the game that this would be a barometer of where we are as a team , we’re still in transition for me and there are questions around the new players and whether they can live up to the legends they are replacing

Big three games coming up , I’m not confident

I bloody hate being right when i predict problems with the lineup pre-match. Reijnders ineffective deeper in the 2, lack of pace at fullback meant that first was wasn't possible to prevent, no telling if it would have played out like this but i feel like Nunes would have had the recovery pace to get to the squared ball for the first.

As for the second and the general inability to get out, get used to it i'm afraid. I've been saying all along, the moment we dont have Ederson, we will see a return of being pressed high, we'll see lots more turnovers, get badly exposed and struggle far more to get up the pitch. We saw it all today and we'll see it most weeks. The crowd were already getting frustrated by it, dread to think what it'll be like in a few weeks when it's cost us more. Some of those that have become blind to Edersons impact will have their eyes opened.

Considering how many time we’ve seen Son do it to Ederson, it’s annoying that Marmoush didn’t just roll the ball between the keepers legs for his chance.

Always think when the keeper is out early and spread, scuffing it at them usually results in it going under them/through their legs for a goal.
