Spurs (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

I saw absolutely nothing in that display to fill me with any sort of optimism for the season ahead.

Utterly dreadful.
Just wait until that beautiful month of December when we always thrive...

Well that was dogshit.
All I can say is well played Bobb cos the rest were either average or crap.
Nico did alright, but too much sideways shite.
Not only his fault.
At least when Rodri and Foden come on they actually got their head up and tried to get us on the fromt foot.
As for ‘Donnarumma is crap with his feet’ well that was Trafford today, shit at short passes and shit at long passes.
I have no idea what he’s thinking for their second.
Brain dead pass.
He ain’t ready imo.
I guess we’ll find out soon enough cos after today the opposition will now press, press, press.
As a team we looked like it’s the first time we’ve tried to play out from the back.
Same shit a different day.

Nah.. it wasn't as bad as the 0-4 vs Spurs, the 4-3 vs Spurs, The 2-3 vs Spurs with the Kane goal at the end..

Spurs just outwork us.. always giving us a good reality check. We'll look back on this as a good place for a course correction..
Strange to say this but that today was worse than the 0-4 last season

I’m fucking puzzled with Pep today. The first time in the game we had a period of sustained attacks was the first 10 minutes of the 2nd half. I wouldn’t say Spurs were on the ropes but they were on the back foot. Cherki, Bobb and Lewis were linking well and causing problems. But Cherki was the one pulling the strings. I appreciate he also lost possession sometimes trying things. But he takes the only creative player on the day off and also takes the only other consistent goalscorer apart from Haaland off and brings on Unc Bernardo and Doku who have very little end product on and we spent the next 30 minutes chasing spurs round like a bunch of c*nts.

I get making changes if you’re not playing well or later in the game but it was the first time we looked like a consistent threat. Said it at the time and it proved that way given we got so much better worse after the change. Fucking bizarre.
There was the closest we saw to a head of steam at that point, which was completely lost as soon as the subs were made. Cherki didn't have a great game today, but the fact is he creates & Marmoush is probably our more direct threat

They will this season. This manager is a better manager.

Much more realistic at organising them with what they've got. They've also got one or two useful players in. To keep harping on what they did last season makes no sense. Frank seems to have Pep's number. That was a Brentford-like victory today.

Just asking, though: is it possible — is it possible — that we were not quite so good as we thought last week? And that we're not quite so bad as we think today?
Long season.

First half hour was ok and we could have scored a couple of goals.. then against the run of play and oh so predictably they score with their first chance. Seems to happen every week and is infuriating

After that 30 minutes it was a car crash of a performance

Was fucking dire.

Spurs were by far the better side - stronger, faster, fitter etc and completely bullied us all over the pitch.

Showed up all of our deficiencies.

Pretty obvious, imo, that Pep expected them to sit deep and try and hit us on the counter whereas they pushed up to the half way line and just pressed us like crazy, and it worked.

On a player level, I thought Stones was the only one who came out with any credit whatsoever.

Said plenty of times, and took pelters for saying it, but Dias is garbage.

Rico out of his depth, shame after last week but showed him for what he is today.

Bernie’s cameo was like something out of a comedy show, he looked like he was fucking 90 out there, he’d only been on 2 mins and lost the ball and didn’t even bother trying to get back.

Hey ho, one hell of a reality check.

We saw what no pre-season looks like today. As they say, give it 10 games then look at the table.

Got the default spurs at home loss out of the way nice and early this year, season starts now.

Jokes aside, we actually had numerous chances that could of led to really good chances but just couldn't take them, for the most part the quality wasn't there.

Long season.
One thing I don’t think we’re a patch on the Centurions team.

Here we go, the season is over after 2 games. Lol!
It's not two games though is it, it's probably 50+. We weren't great at the start of last season but were getting the results until it felt apart.

What's the last good performance from us you can remember against a top tier side? Probably Forest at home. We were poor virtually all last season, the same issues were evident in the CWC and have appeared already this season. How long do we have to keep doing the same thing and assuming it'll work?

Main worry is Spurs looked bigger, faster and fitter all over the park.

Early days but we’re not winning anything of note playing with Lewis.
And Oscar Bobb, I think a lot of people like him because his name fits a song nicely. He’s got a trick or two but looks a bit slow and no change of pace. No point beating a man if you then can’t get away from him.
