Spurs (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

So very disappointing today so many poor performances I have got to say I just don't get the love in for Bob he has never done anything of note apart from a good goal at Newcastle 2 years ago
I don’t think he was great today but statistically he created the most chances, got fouled the most and had the best passing accuracy. He just doesn’t lose the ball but he was largely ineffective today. He’s a top player and was class last week, arguably our best winger which says it all

It's not two games though is it, it's probably 50+. We weren't great at the start of last season but were getting the results until it felt apart.

What's the last good performance from us you can remember against a top tier side? Probably Forest at home. We were poor virtually all last season, the same issues were evident in the CWC and have appeared already this season. How long do we have to keep doing the same thing and assuming it'll work?
Haven't we taken more points than anyone over the past 20 PL games?

We have come to the end of our title years for now and we will need to rebuild which will take time.
The average age of the team is on the decline which it needs to be but we clearly lack the class of player and mentality to challenge for honors and I expect a number of these types of performances with this squad given in part the success that many have had in the past few years.

Today we looked mentally fragile without conviction accepting the fact we are in transition , it might get worse before it gets better it shouldn't come as a surprise.

The rebuild has virtually been done, 1 or 2 more maybe.

The signings we have made are young.

We were shit today, no control and out muscled.

Fuck ups cost us at both ends.

No one played well and some were very dissapointing. In hindsight, possibly too many thrown in for home debuts in a tough game.

Without last weekend I'd be a lot more worried. Today was terrible though, no getting away from it

I was surprised with Spuds though, they will probably revert to being shit soon enough.

Then again, they are Champions of Europe, they told us so.

The hotel looks fooking huge!

The most disappointing thing was the tame manner in which the game petered out and Spurs had it easy to close out what should have been a difficult final quarter of the match for them. I think Pep could see that and the introduction of Rodri and Foden was to try to inject more of a presence on the pitch rather than any genuine hope of turning the score around.

However, it's a little early to be all doom and gloom, the disappointment of today should be tempered just the same as the giddiness of last week. What with the messy preseason due to the CWC and integrating the new players I think talk of Pep's demise is a tad premature.

Thoroughly deserved victory.
Fucking shite all over. Not 1 positive at all to be taken from that match.
Lack of tempo
Lack of hunger and desire.
Lack of ability to pass the ball.
Lack of idea on set pieces.

Can I just ask. Is anyone else wondering why the club has extended Dias' contact.
Fuck me he is.such a shit defender. Rash in the tackle
Shite decision making, lack of leadership. I really dont see it anymore with him. Keepimg players who should have been moved on is such poor planning. Van de ven is 10 times the defender Dias is.

Rico Lewis.
Dont even start me off.
See you at Brighton

We might go on to have a brilliant season but today posed so many questions.

How can the club be happy in the fact that we’ve just been outfought and bullied at home?

Cherki for instance, great technically but you could see it from a mile away that he was going to be pressured physically from day one

I said during the game he has the least footballing ability in the squad.

So you’re optimistic about the season ahead….. ; )

Too many missed opportunities in front of goal. Trafford and Lewis together in defence is a liability. No ball went long despite Spurs pressing.
Just one in the first half when Marmoush shot wide… almost an assist for Trafford.

Not panicking, Spurs defended well and capitalised in two defensive mistakes, one because of a slip on the new surface and the other by an inexperienced goalie. It should have been a draw. The ref did us no favours. But we never really looked like scoring, we didn’t have enough pre-season to gel the newcomers with the established. I am sure we will improve but we have some tough games ahead, hopefully the International break will give players a chance to get into gear

I remember my first pint.

Didn’t do anything wrong!!?? Eh?

He just commited one of the biggest goalkeeping bloopers you’ll see all season

Trafford didn't do anything wrong is the biggest stretch ive ever read.
Are you his dad or relative ??.
It wasn't his fault we lost today i will give you that. CTID

Sorry mate but that’s just bollox
Trafford did nothing wrong?

I love Ruben but it's his fault there..

He should take responsibility and just clear it when we're under the cosh. It's a lot better to give away the ball 40 yards from goal than 10 yards from goal.

FFS we won a treble when Pep decided to just trust Ake, Dias and Akanji to clear the ball vs keeping it.

And on the flip side we've lost multiple CL games trying to keep the ball with Zinny/ Laporte/ Cancelo/ Kovacic etc.

Trafford is Trafford. He's not Eddie. And Ruben didn't play to Trafford's strength's with that pass.

IMHO if you need a keeper that can use his feet.. you give Eddie 400k a week if you have to instead of thinking the grass is greener on the other side.. because Donnarumma is even worse with his feet than Trafford!

There are no excuses and we have bought a shit goalkeeper
So you write off a young player after one nervous performance? Didn’t put a foot wrong last week and made two fine saves in the last minute today. Which is why we bought him, hea top class shot stopper who hopefully can improve his distribution. “Supporters” getting at him like that, oh that’ll improve his confidence for sure.

Let's be honest here: We were outclassed.
I 8 Spurs, but they were quicker to every ball with sharp and incisive passing and a press that choked us to death.
We were slow and ponderous in attack by comparison and looked tired.
Worse, we had a way out with Haaland (often only with one defender on him on the half way line), but never took the option.

it was clear which team had had a full preseason today and which one hadnt- says it all - it was a good opportunity for spuds today - chances came and were wasted plus their goalie made some good saves - the margins are small - it will come good there is so much talent in the team so keep the faith
