Spurs (H) Post Match Thread

When I saw the ball hit his arm and then saw it from another angle and saw the ball change direction. I don’t like it, I hate the fucking stupid new Rule but it doesn’t take away from the facts.
I've genuinely not seen that angle you speak of. If you find it share it, I don't want to believe they could rule it out without being certain is all.

Regardless, did you see this?

Thoughts?

If you watch the replay you will see that the poster is right.

I don’t like VAR but I’m not blind to the truth. The ball hit Laporte’s arm.
Would var have come to the same decision if it was united .
No case closed.
Football has been ruined.
Seriously considering not going anymore it a joke

To anyone saying well done to the referee for that decision - are you 100% sure that the ball hit Laporte's arm and only Laporte's arm. Can you 100% say that it didn't hit the Spurs defenders arm as well or that there wasn't a foul / tug on Laporte to bring his arm to the ball? I suspect the answer is no to all of this and like the var officials, you are guessing.

If you see our conversation earlier in the thread we are debating the non penalty more than the handball. It’s the selective aspect I’m alluding to, not the handball
I completely agree with you. I have posted exactly the same thing earlier.

Even if it hits the spurs player accidentally the goal is chalked off and the game starts with a hot ball

I’m sure if it comes off the defenders hand accidentally the goal still gets chalked off and the game resumes with a hot ball unbelievable I know. Add to that the new hot ball rules are if it’s a “hot ball” in the box the ref just drops the ball to the keeper

If it hits a defenders hand isn’t it a pen? What a fucking shit show

Not if he fouled and dragged his arm back, to cause the handball both on Laporte and himself. His actions caused both. Penalty.

I think that one wasn’t allowed purely because they decided not to show the referee the conclusive angle. I honestly think the referee thought it did not hit his arm. He wasn’t given the opportunity to think anything else, by those in charge of the replays.

I'd like to think that but I'm pretty sure it was the Turkish ref who is known for being a massive ****.

As I said earlier, I watched on NBC and the replays they showed were pretty clear.

I did see the other incidents and have already commented on the penalty. The Ref and the VAR ref were wrong. Everyone, apart from them, knows they were wrong.

The Spurs defender pulling Eric’s arm is a tricky one. Is it a penalty ? - probably not. Does it change the fact that the ball hit Eric’s arm ? -no. If the ball had hit the Spurs players arm accidentally it still wouldn’t have been a goal and it wouldn’t have been a penalty. As I said it’s a stupid rule.

I hate VAR more than anything, but scoring just 2 goals from 30 shots was poor thing to do.

Our players needs to be more clinical.

I also don't understand why Pep has changed the formation !
City win 5-0 in the 1st game, why change the formation and drop Mahrez, Jesus and Silva ?

I’m still walking around shaking my head. I’m completely bamboozled by the whole thing tbh and hope I cool down as I’m in the same boat as A few posters and thinking of ditching my seasoncard tbh. Haven’t felt like this in 40+ years of watching city, even under Pearce....

When bernardo done his little party piece near touch line dancing around 3 spurs players, why when danny rose flattened him, did they get the free kick ????
Seen that clip again and I have no idea what Oliver saw. Rose came through the back of Bernardo and he was sandwiched between Rose and someone else. Another reason to fuck us over and not give us a free kick in a dangerous position.

I’m glad I’m on holiday and missed it other than watching on my phone. It would have fucked ruined my week that. It is a joy sucker. I won’t be celebrating any goal going forward. Every time we scored I was thinking is it going
to be ruled out? There is a really strong chance that it this carries on then I’m done with watching it live. I don’t see the point. I might as well save myself a couple of grand a year and just watch it on tv.

Technically under the new rules I can see it is correct but what I can’t see is why the blatant push/grab in the box in the first half wasn’t given. Was it even reviewed? I just don’t get it and no one will explain it.

As for the game. We really have to be winning games when we have 30 shots to 3! Conceding 2 goals is really piss poor.

We played well for 55 mins then it all went a bit hit and miss.

I thought playing a clearly not match sharp Gundogan and Aguero in the same game was a bad decision. I’m not sure what Jesus did to deserve being dropped after one game and I’m not sure what the fuck Aguero was moaning about as other than score he hardly added anything.
