Spurs (H) - Post-Match Thread

It's hilarious. How many goals would 'Arry have scored yesterday playing for us. I would think he wouldn't have got a sniff, not a shot, and subbed on 70mins.
Sometimes I just think why don’t we just put 10 men behind the ball ourselves and see who blinks first, we could learn from Chelsea how to beat these cunts.

A flashback to the horrors of his first season with us. The worst he has been for some time truth be told. Couldn't get a basic pass in the first half, and was overrun a few times. To be fair to him there wasn't much space at all, and Conte had clearly done his homework that isolating him is how you get joy, but it was one of those games that you made you realise why Pep didn't fancy him in the CL final last year.
Thanks for that. He’s done well for himself so far, Rodri. His intelligence has helped him improve massively. Not blessed with pace but he reads the game well.

Nonetheless, what you said also reminded of the Chelsea fa cup semi final. Mark him or focus on him and it’s hard for him to have a good game. I think any DM coming in for Dinho has to have some good physical attributes. I know the team doesn’t rely on pace and power but some in needed in the midfield sometimes.

Yeah, I don't mean it as a swipe at him. He's been one of our most consistent players this season, and if win silverware, which I think we will do, he will have played a major role.

It's such a complicated position in this team, so much goes through him that if he does have a bad day and/or the team isolate his passes he's going to struggle. That isn't his fault per se, though I do think yesterday was a mixture of both. But every team that has got at us this season has done so by targeting him.

Think the game was two 'easy' for City because spurs didnt try to contain us until 10 yards from their box. Spurs werent interested until than.
When a team isnt interested in playing it must be tough to keep your concentration levels up. I found it boring. There was no pressure on our middle field, they were happy for us to have the ball.
When we lost the ball one forward drop and played a though ball than goal.
I bet City have tougher training matches.

I think Everton are very average and need to win
I think paying dead and getting beat will do lampard no favours so he may as well have a go (within reason)
Possibly same for United
Not getting a point yesterday after the penalty was criminal

The place will be an absolute bear pit on Saturday night. Tough game.

We are vulnerable to a particular attack at the moment. A striker drops off the front and immediately plays the ball around the corner for the onrushing winger or midfielder. Fulham scored the exact same goal a few weeks ago. Dias also made the error of jumping forward and we also got caught with the same pressing error as the CL final, our full back going up against their wing back.

IMO this is a problem with the CB partnership. Laporte is slow and easily turned, we’ve seen that for a couple of years now, and the more Dias plays with him the more he seems to be trying to nip things in the bud like Otamendi used to.

Stones is much faster and more comfortable covering back and mopping up if that ball in behind is played, which is why he and Dias fit so well together as a pair.

Chelsea caused them all sorts of problems with set pieces too though nearly every goal they scored against them was a set piece. Our set piece deliveries yesterday were absolutely shocking.
