Spurs lose the 2012 Stadium to West Ham

The simple fact of course is that in order to make all of this happen Spurs would throw away most of their history and be no better than MK Dons IMO.

I for one feel that history and tradition is worth more to the game as a whole than a financially empowered Stratford Hotspurs.

We don't have a franchise system like the NFL and so Spurs should stay where they are even if that doesnt suit their balance sheet at this time.

Bayern Munich moved out of the Olympic Stadium and have been so much more successful than before..... Schalke and a number of other German clubs have all moved out of stadia with running tracks.....

Roma/Lazio are desperate to move, Espanyol moved last season.....

It will be a disaster for many reasons if West Ham get it.... but as I mentioned last night the OPLC have estimated the leases won't be finalised and all the checks on the viability of the bid will not be finalised until June this year.... it gives them until the end of the season to see if West Ham get relegated (call me cynical)...

LOL - Bayern have won 16 of their 22 German league titles and all 4 of their European Cups/Champions League titles while they were based at the Olympic Stadium. I'd hardly call that unsuccessful.

It's a myth that a stadium with a running track is detrimental to how a team performs on the pitch. I will concede that it's not the ideal type of stadium for the spectator though.

Incidentally marc, what do you see Tottenham's next move being if West Ham get this rubber-stamped? A revival of the development next to WHL? Or a move to an alternative site elsewhere?

The relegation or not wont impact on the decision as unlike Spurs fans and the Spurs board they are not looking at a short term plan.

Just because it suits your agenda and seemingly helps your case doesn't mean it is a reality for the people making this decision.

When they sit down and look at the options if one of them were for Chelsea and another from United would they be as easily considered?

The fact is Spurs are desperate for very selfish reasons and it could have been a stadium Brighton and they would have tried to make a case for it.

I'm not convinced by an argument based on an accountants spreadsheet, irrespective of the arrogant musings of Lord Sugar, a man who likes nothing more than the sound of his own voice.

I have seen some pretty stupid things on here, but that statement takes the biscuit.

I hate Bayern Munich for their Rag like traits and had a 1860 season ticket when stationed out there, but thats akin to me saying Fergiescum has been a shite manager for the rags.

Spuds fans seem to be as aggorant and deluded as your typical plastic rag, in your case you can add clueless as well.

I'm pleased West Ham got the stadium, I really like West Ham, great club, great fans and West Ham is one of my favourite away days. However how are they going to fill the new stadium, even if they reduce it to 60,000?! I would feel exactly the same if city were to move to a new stadium, I would be worried we wouldn't even fill it.

I'm wondering if this is a move to attract a new take over? Perhaps they know something we don't, perhaps theres' been a done deal providing they get this stadium? We were in a similar debt situation before we were taken over.

@ Spurs fans

Does it really make a difference if Spurs move to Stratford? The club is in North East London, only seven miles from Stratford as it is. I've been to Tottenham a few times and isn't it fair to say that there's a lot of immigrant groups living near the stadium and your support comes from farther out in the home counties? A ground in east london with excellent transport links would be more accessible for those from Essex or Hartfordshire for instance where the majority of your match going support is based.
You could probably say the same for West Ham, aren't they mostly Essex based, the prduct of white flight from the east end.
