Just got me thinking why is it only going to hold 57,000 when apparently they have this huge fan base, 75,000 on a waiting list? (Well according to the spuds fans that frequent our site.)

Shirley they're missing out on millions of pounds?
its all they could afford

Oh never thought about that :)

I could be wrong but there is a difference between being on a waiting list and actually paying for the season ticket and going to all the games. I used to be mates with a rag who said he was on the waiting list for them but I knew even if he got to the front of the queue and was offered a ticket he wouldn't have got one. But he liked the status of being on the list and would say he was this loyal fan who just couldn't get a ticket. Plus there will be people on the list who could afford it at the time but can't any more etc.

Better to fill 57,000 than have an empty stadium for the wigan/boltons of this world

Say what you want about spurs fans being a bit deluded about the size of their club but theyve a very good following, cant ever remember them not bringing a proper following to ours and the atmospheres always fantatsic at a packed WHL

To be fair to Spurs, and it's not easy for me as I'm still scarred by childhood memories of Ricky Villa, they have had a very large fan base down the years. They can fill 57,000, I reckon, as long as they have a half decent side.

They're third in this all time league table of average attendances, but it's from a year or two ago and I think I read somewhere that Arse would overtake them.

We're 8th, behind Newcastle as well as Everton and Spurs. Of the bigger city clubs, we're ahead of Villa and Leeds in the top ten. Chelsea in 5th surprised me as well, mainly because I remember them getting poor gates in the late seventies and early eighties.

Spurs have a huge support, i reckon they could easily fill out a 70k stadium.

They just cant afford to build one that size. Shame really.

Bolton are the third biggest club in the area behind Utd and City. Not bad considering we haven't actually won anything for over 50 years! Puts a few of those snide remarks about our support into context.

i dont think we have been at coms long enough, but we must if not, be gaining on everton?

That list surely can't be right. Wigan can't have had only 4m supporters through their gates in their history?

Seen it a couple of times, including once on here, so I googled for it and discovered it on another board. It's slightly out of date - Arsenal may have overtaken Spurs by now, Rags will be pulling further clear at the top and we should be closing on Everton - but I'm not aware of a newer version.
