Spurs thread 2019/20

Had a look at a thread about Pochettino on a Spurs forum. Only to source some fans' reactions to wind-up the missus. She is a big Pochettino fan. Seems that a few are unhappy with him, with some questioning his future at the club.

Here's the thread: http://spurscommunity.co.uk/index.php?threads/the-beginning-of-the-end.137696/ 1,900 replies since Sunday!

A few posts are harsh, in my opinion. They didn't sign players last year, the new signings are yet to settle and a few players are in the last year of their contract. People are quick to pint their finger at the manager but Levy is getting a bit of a free ride.

I'm not too concerned. We are notorious slow starters for the most part. As you said it will take the new signings time to settle. The only worrying thing for me is losing Eriksen and Jan at some point

We've punched above our weight for many many years to the point where Arsenal and United are nowhere close to being as good as us. We are not quite at a level you guys are or Liverpool but the future is still bright.

As I said before I'm not too arsed about trophies, i only really remember 3 in my lifetime, if they happen that is a huge bonus in life!

If be more worried if I were a United fan or even a Chelsea fan. I didn't think I'd be saying that 5+ years ago!

Indeed, City will mostly only face the problem from second choice players and the occasional first choice player who is determined to sign for either Real Madrid or Barcelona. But it will nevertheless impact on City’s finances, like everyone else’s (especially given the value of City’s second choice players) - either in the form of players leaving on a free or ever increasing wage offers to dissuade them from doing so. It will all be complicated further by opposite situations like Gareth Bale’s at Real Madrid - a player on huge wages who is no longer wanted but who no one else can afford to pay.

Spurs’ wages for their top players aren’t so very far behind their competitors now. And their bonus scheme is more generous than most. Once the new stadium revenues start to kick in, I would expect the gap to close even further. Especially now that the club has been able to restructure the majority of the stadium debt on favourable terms. As to trophies, the past does not equal the future. What matters is whether players believe that they can win trophies at Spurs in the future. If they don’t, then they’re not wanted at the club anyway!
We don't lose players to madrid or barca

Levy absolutely doesn't get a free ride! A large proportion of fans will never give him any credit.

You're so right about the Poch knee jerkers, though. I never read match threads or post-match threads (if we've lost). Too many stupid and ignorant people raging incoherently and illogically. Pretty sure every club has that kind of fan. They seem to revel in anger and misery. Weirdos.

You haven't yet, perhaps. But you very well might one day.

They are the biggest attractions in world football. The top of the food chain.
No they aren't,we haven't lost anyone to them in 10yrs,our best players have spend 6/7/8/9/some 10 yrs with us,all their peak years, they have everything they want here, trophies, quiet private lives, players who go to spain are never left alone,as a club we treat them fairly and with respect,we let our oldies run down their contracts and leave on their own terms as respect for moving the club foward, you wil never have that but enjoy your new ground

It's just naive to think that you will never lose players to either Barcelona or Real Madrid. And yes, they most certainly are top of the food chain.

Regardless of how well you think your club treats your players (and I doubt that it is quite as cosy and nicey-nicey as you like to imagine), some players will inevitably have their heads turned by the idea of playing for one of the two or three biggest and most storied clubs in the world. There's no shame in admitting it.

Haha 10yrs says different, they are creating history here, almost out of business to now, some players value that more than going to a "storied club" whatever that bollocks is,players don't stay for nearly a decade if they are not treated well, you are getting as insufferable as the dippers on here
