Spurs Thread - 2023/24

Spurs manager sounds a decent bloke
Said when he joined Celtic and when he joined Spurs that he’s a good manager. And he does come across as a decent bloke. He’s done well wherever he’s gone. He’d be a smokey for us in a few years time if he performs well at Spurs. The CFG folk will know enough about him given his time in Japan.

Enjoyed yesterday for obvious reasons. Spurs played really well and their manager does seem a grounded bloke.

But Spurs have always been able to beat “top”teams. To stop being Spursey they need to beat such opponents when it really matters.

Looks a good team. Sarr seems a good signing. so is Maddison, and Bissouma is playing well again. Still not a big fan of Richarlison as the main striker, tbh. Pedro Porro is amazing going forward, but pretty dire as an inverted full back option.

Overall, they are getting things right and will probably only improve as the season goes.

When did spurs last beat the scum

Thought they looked decent enough

They really could do with a decent striker now that Kane has gone. Especially if they want to get the best out of Maddison and Son etc. I'd be in hot pursuit of someone like Ivan Toney when he's back from his ban, just pay what it costs.

What’s all this Angeball bollocks in the media? They beat a piss poor rags outfit

Before the season starts the media present the rags as the reincarnation of the Brazil 1970 side and 5 matches in fans realise just how shit they are and they've had smoke blown up their arses :)

I watched quite a bit of the game yesterday and thought Spurs played some superb football. Maddison, Bissouma, Kulusevski and Sarr all looked very good. If they can play like they did yesterday for most of the season they will be very entertaining to watch and possible outsiders for 2nd place (we'll win it again this year).

I thought it was a real gamble taking the manager on, but from what I saw yesterday, they players have responded to him.

I did mention Ange would be fine. I’m sure I did. Spurs will need to worry about how long they can keep him before he takes over from Pep in a couple of seasons. Either you or Madrid. I hope it’s you.

They look good this year, very glad Kane left as they would have looked the business if he stayed.

I think they look better without Kane. I know he's a great striker but Spurs look a lot more fluid and less predictable. Perhaps some of the other players were in Kane's shadow. Mind you they still need someone better than Richarlison up front!

Only watched a few of his interviews but Postecoglou seems like a great guy. Very down to earth.

Agreed. I rather felt he was holding them back at times. On many occasions he chose to shoot rather than pass to a colleague who was in a better position: just seemed like he was going for personal glory all the time.
From what I have seen of them so far this season they look more like a team, playing together and more importantly, playing for each other.

Very early days yet to draw any conclusions. They’ll miss Kane massively imo

Reminds me a bit of when Anelka left us. It was halfway through the season and I thought we'd be total shit without him, but I'm pretty sure we went from like 12th to 8th in the second half of the season.

Unfortunately, that was at the start of the downward slope of Pearce's reign, so maybe not the best example.
