Spurs Thread - 2023/24

Why can’t spurs win it? We have a decent squad with depth in most positions. No midweek football. A great manager. It is just lazy wishful thinking to simply write us off. We’ll get six points off you tossers. That’s 9 points you have to make up on us. Maybe you can do it. Maybe you can’t.
Posted on 28th October since when Spurs have amassed one point from five games and lost more leads than a blind dog walker. With timing like that JPBB should make a career in stand-up comedy.

I admire the way that Spurs are playing under Ange (cannot spell his surname).
After Conte, Mourhino and caretaker managers, Ange must feel like a breath of fresh air.
Spurs take risks and play an excellent style of football.
I would rather watch them play than LFC, the Arse or obviously, the Stretford Snakes.
I was at Wembley '81 (the first match), so know that some of their fans can be nuggets, but traditionally they have always played entertaining football.
At some time though, Ange must defend deeper with the current team. Their "high line" isn't working without those rapid defenders who are injured...

I thought they looked poor playing out from the back on Sunday, their keeper isn't very good at it, we just weren't clever enough to take advantage of that sadly.

As great as he looks, he's not got the balance right yet.

From the little I have seen of them this season I would say they are a long way from being Premier League champions. Perhaps in a year or two, but certainly not this season.
Postecoglou has done well since he's been there, but pretty much anyone would have been an improvement when you think about the utter dross they've had taking charge for the last decade or so.

Give him a year or so and they will be there or thereabouts.

As morning is followed by night, Spurs lose after their biggest game of the season vs City,
Why do they play like 1970s Brazil in the game vs City then in their next game. play like shit ?

Easy to be brave stay concentrated make no mistake hardly when there is zero pressure on the result plus referee giving them everything

Spurs have no European football. They had a fully fit squad and relatively easy run of fixtures. It wasn’t that big a surprise to see them start the season well.

Angeball is great when everything is going well but now when we hit the winter months and the congested fixture list and injuries and suspensions kick in we see the downside to Angeball. Teams can get at them too easily and he insists he won’t change his way of playing. He needs to find a Plan B or his teams will struggle at this level.

The next two transfer windows will be interesting. He’s never managed a club with the spending power of a Spurs.

Yes, I'd love to be a comedian but I simply don't have your delightful turn of phrase.

The title is anyones because you, too, are fucking it up. I still think we could do it (and i think Postecoglou thinks that too) and I would very much enjoy quoting this post back to you in May. (Although I acknowledge that the Asian Cup and the Africa Cup of Nations does represent a significant challenge for us.)

They looked good last night, but Newcastle were all over the place in the first half. First two goals were more or less identical. Take Sons contribution out of the equation and it's a much closer game.
I like the way they're playing and I think it's good for the league when you have multiple teams competing for top spots - but I can't see them maintaining form all season. They're not a title contender for me. Top 3 possibly (by that I mean 3rd).

Never in my lifetime have I thought Spurs would win the league.

In 1998 I would have said "Never in my lifetime have I thought Man City would win the league again"
Different to what he said though. You were looking at the situation we were in and predicting the future. He’s saying there hasn’t been a single season, including the one where you finished 3rd in a two horse race, when he thought you would win the league.

You could need to avoid defeat at home to Norwich City at your stadium on the last day of the season to win the league and most sensible football fans would still be thinking of the word “Spursy”.

The poster you quoted never said "again". It makes a significant difference to the meaning of the post. Don't go twisting other posts to suit your narrative.

Aside from your outrage at my misunderstanding of your linguistics and grammar, I think you are saying that Spurs will never will anything ever again. I think that is wrong. I believe that we will win the premier league soon. And you will be playing in the third tier again. As you should know better than most; such are the vagaries of fortune for football clubs.
