Good morning Overview, any decent tottenham jokes from over the weekend?
Based on reports from April 25, 2026, Tottenham Hotspur experienced a chaotic afternoon where they briefly looked to be escaping the relegation zone, only for a late West Ham goal to keep them in the bottom three.
(The New York Times)

Here are the details of the drama:

  • The Scenario: Tottenham secured their first league win of 2026, beating Wolves 1-0 with an 82nd-minute goal from João Palhinha.

  • The Hope: At the same time, West Ham was drawing 1-1 with Everton, which for a few minutes placed West Ham in the bottom three and lifted Tottenham out.

  • The Twist: West Ham substitute Callum Wilson scored a stoppage-time winner (90+2') to secure a 2-1 victory against Everton, leaving Tottenham in 18th place and 2 points behind the Hammers.

  • The Reaction: Fans and commentators described the chaotic turn of events as a typical, painful moment in a high-stakes relegation battle, ensuring Tottenham remained in the drop zone with four games left in the season. (USA Today)

Simons out for the foreseeable future after rupturing his ACL. Wasn't Rodri's injury something similar? And he was out for the guts of a year. God knows, I detest Spurs; I have a lovingly nurtured 45 year grudge against them. But christ, they've had a rotten run with injuries. Simons, Kudus, Maddison, Kulusevski, Solanke; all of them long term injuries, and pretty much all of them would be first team players.

Anyway; moving on.....

I'm prepared to park my distaste for Villa for one weekend. I know Villa being in the EL governs the day the game takes place; it's the time that's a bit odd, sunday evening, rather than the afternoon. I don't remember too many PL games taking place in that time slot. Assuming it's on TNT; trying to avoid a clash with Sky's game, possibly?

Yes TNT, swapped their Sat 12.30 slot, as Sky are covering all Chapionship games @ 12.30 Saturday.

We all should want Forest to go out! Because I have the feeling Anderson has a clause if not in Europe! Maybe a lot less than 120m

A Spurs fan wrote in to Rob Jones on Boom Radio, this morning, wishing his team, Everton, all the best for the rest of the season, except the last game, when they play Spurs.

Why would a Spurs fan want the Toffees to beat us, thereby potentially handing the title to cheating Arsenal?
