Spyware

Sorry if this sounds a bit thick but I am a complete technophobe.

I have had an alert from windows security centre saying that spyware has probably invaded my computer and I should download a free SWS antispyware. When I try to do it I get another warning saying the publisher could not be verified. What does this mean and is it safe for me to download?

Don't know for sure but sounds dodgy to me, I recommend Spybot S&D and adaware, both free and trusted:

Yep I forgot about that one, I use it as well, it happily coexists with the others.

btw..if you are running vista stay clear of adaware..it will lock your system up
