Squad Depth/Injuries mounting up

Plenty of clubs have loads of injuries. Our problem is the number of games our success is leading to.

While we can do fine without Delph and Mendy, GJ and Sane are pretty integral. Yesterday Leroy plays we get 3 points.

The good news is if we get passed Basel they will be back fresh to give us a lift.
That’s the spirit!

I’ve got a feeling that all we’ll win this year is the league. I can’t currently see us winning any of the cups or CL with the squad in the shape that it is. That would be a massive shame, but I just can’t see it currently.
You have to remember that we'll be getting back to a full strength squad just at the right time for the CL latter stages. Win the league cup and a lot of pressure will be released for the rest of the season.

It would still be a great season if we "only" win the league, probably the best ever all things considered.

I've just had a text and piccy from my ERO who is currently watching summat on Belgian TV. Apparently, they are 'analysing' our defence and comparing it to the budget of almost half of Ligue 1 teams! I had to remind him that no matter what the cost, they still let in soft 'uns!

Leroy and Gabriel will be ready to return in early March (GJ) and mid month (LS). As long as we do not get any more injuries we should be able to cope in February.

The CL tie against Basel slightly worries me without Sane and Jesus. But hopefully we will still be too strong for them even without several key players.

Think these injuries are going to cost us the league cup.

Arsenal are on their end of season ascendancy now after their usual mid-season flop and we are struggling with injuries and finishing chances.

I also think we looked tired after 70 minutes more so than we have done all season.

Our bench is bordering on non-existent.

Agree on players but the rest before the cup final is 6 full days. Plenty. We only had 2 full days between West Brom and Burnley.

We really need to play some younger players against wigan though. All these games catch up on you over the season. Aguero/De Bruyne/Silva should be nowhere near that Wigan game with the games we have coming up.

Completely agree mate.

I think Pep will heavily rotate in that Wigan game.

The week after we have Arsenal twice (one in mid-week) and Chelsea, followed by Basle mid-week and Stoke away.

That is a very hard fixture list considering our injuries.

Luckily Mkhitaryan is cup-tied

Has to rotate for Wigan, tough game but surely the kids can put in a performance

It’ll only cost us if we miss the 12 chances we will get

That's good news. He looks decent now he's left united. Wonder why?
It will still be a hard game. Aubameyang is class. I think we should go with 5 at the back, with Walker, Stones or Kompany, Otamendi, Laporte and Delph (if he´s fit). Fernandinho as the DM, with KDB and Silva in front of him of course. Sterling and Aguero upfront

From a domestic perspective I don't think we need to worry. Plenty of games for all our rivals. Where it does make a difference is in Europe . The likes of barca, psg, bayern can all rest players with minimum risk.

If they don’t its not the end of the world. A draw would be good anyway as it would postpone the Arsenal game to a time when outr players are back. In fact it would be ideal as long as it’s mainly the reserves getting it!
