Stadium Developments thread

Not sure anyone goes on about how 'great' it is anymore
The only people who go on about how "great" it is haven't been for 20 odd years, if at all. It's a shithole, both inside and out. It is "great" if you like getting wet.

Was at Wrexham's ground on Tuesday watching the Wales Women international. (Hadn't been since the boxing day game in 1998 when our turn-around started). Their new stand has just started to be built. Looks like it's going to be impressive and really add to the old ground. Only a matter of time until they're in the prem and we're going back there again.

A major shift is coming to Bermondsey, one of London’s most dynamic areas, thanks to an exciting development involving local football club Millwall FC. With a new 999-year lease agreement secured, Millwall FC is poised to begin a significant transformation project that promises to breathe new life into the community and surrounding areas. But what does this mean for local residents, businesses, and the property market in Bermondsey? Let’s dive into what the redevelopment of Millwall’s New Den could mean for the future of the neighbourhood.

Millwall FC, a long-standing football club in Bermondsey, has signed a new 999-year lease for their home ground, The New Den. Although the club’s previous lease still had 120 years remaining, the decision to secure this new long-term agreement signals the start of an ambitious redevelopment project. The extended lease allows Millwall FC to lift previous restrictions and fully utilise the land surrounding the stadium for new projects and developments.

This lease extension is seen as a significant move for the Championship club, providing them with the stability needed to invest in a larger stadium and improved facilities for both fans and the wider community. Plans include the construction of a new 34,000-seat stadium and additional development projects that could transform the surrounding area into a vibrant hub for sports, leisure, and community activities.

The redevelopment of The New Den and its surroundings is part of a broader wave of stadium upgrades across London. For Bermondsey, the impact is expected to be substantial, bringing new housing, leisure spaces, and improved infrastructure. The potential relocation of the Millwall Community Trust as part of the New Bermondsey project will also enhance the area’s community outreach and support local initiatives.

According to Lewisham’s Mayor, Brenda Dacres, the new lease agreement is a positive outcome that will secure Millwall’s future in the borough. The partnership between Millwall FC and Lewisham Council highlights the shared vision for this part of south London, with a focus on unlocking much-needed homes and creating new public spaces for residents and visitors alike.

A key component of Millwall FC’s redevelopment plan is the Millwall Community Trust, a charitable organisation that offers educational, health, and social support services to local residents. As part of the New Bermondsey project, the Trust is set to be relocated, providing an opportunity to expand its services and reach even more people in the community.

The Trust’s new facilities will enable it to continue its valuable work, from youth programmes to health initiatives, helping to make a positive impact on the lives of Bermondsey residents. This is a crucial aspect of the redevelopment, reinforcing the club’s commitment to being a key community asset and supporting the local area beyond football.

Hope their plans n vision come to fruition, luv the railway [The] Arches nod to where they played on the Isle of Dogs in their earlier inception n that can still be seen nowadays.

Best of luck to the Wall in play-offs, Millllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll

That’s very nice. I like the roof, reminds me of the original CoMS, but with nicer architecture and design.

Villa closing the north stand for all of next season. Original plan was to keep it open and do the works across 2 seasons but this move means they’ll be able to get the stand complete in 1 season instead.
Replacing the corners is only part of their plans but it will add only 470 seats according to this.

I think wider works will take VP to over 50k but the corners won't add much.
