Stadium Expansion

Hypothetically speaking, if we were to commence the expansion at the end of the season and are going for the rumoured 60k with bigger North Stand, how long do people think it would take to complete?

I am sure our owners are savvy enough to keep the reduced capacity down to a minimum whilst the work is carried out but would it be feasible to complete the work by the start of the 2011/2012 season which would give us a full season plus two summers?
this is what i think
if they could start at the close of play this season they could finish it for the start of 11/12
by asking for dispensation to reduce the away allocation it wouldn't affect regular supporters at all, just the ones who go to the 'big' games

isn't there 7 months of prep work going on around the stadium starting in may?
would that have to be complete before any expansion?

i thought the prep work was for the back of the East Stand for the 'leisure complex-hotel-sky tower- theme park-race course-f1 track'

you might be right squirty, but those underground workings could be all over the place

i hope they are going to extend it at the end of this season
if they leave it until we are winning things tickets will be in huge demand due to the decreased capacity for a short while, then prices will go up

a season ticket in the right place is a wonderful thing :-)

When I first heard about the North stand expansion I was a bit sceptical - I tend to like the stadium feel we have ( I hated the later day Maine road with its different designs (most of them bad)) and a big f*ck off stand can look awful - look at the Kippax or Elland Road.

But I have faith in the owners doing it properly - I'm sure (no I hope) the roof line will not be higher than the CB and East Stands - and a big single tier home end could be just what the stadium needs to bring it to life.

Hopefully we will know more soon...

Main Road was bigger so why not, there will be alot of cockney rag prawn sandwich boys jumping ship to us when we are at the top, will need the extra seats so us real supporters can get a bastard ticket.
Maine Rd had a smaller capacity than COMS, when we win something and the attendances go up it will be worth it, for now better left.

I think Bluemooner is refering to the days where Maine Road was standing and we could achieve 75'000
