Hi guys, sorry if this is posted in the wrong section, please move if required.

Just looking for a bit of advice regarding the stadium tour.

As a xmas pressie off the beloved wife, she thought it would be a great idea for me and my son to have a tour of the mighty Etihad! Its a fair old trip up north for us and just wondered if the tour is value for money. Its a long way too come up for just an hour tour of the ground, do we have to be in and out within the hour? Can we wonder around the site longer? Any recommendations of what elese we could do in the day? And Whats the club shop like? is there much unique stuff in there that you can only buy in that shop? Looking for something special maybe.
My 7 yr old son has never been to a football ground before and i have tried hundreds of times to get him to go City and hes well up for it! whats the chances of meeting any players whilst on a stadium tour? that would make our trip! He's Yaya mad!!

Any tips and advice would be greatfully received. Thanks.

The tour is fantastic! Took my grandad there last year. Well worth the money

Something else you could do is hop on the metrolink outside the ground and get off at Victoria station then walk up to the National Football Museum.

Doubt there will be any players but he could have his photo taken in Yaya's seat in the dressing room. You also get to go into the press room and pretend your the manager in a press conference. Lots of stuff to do

If the OP times his trip we sometimes have 'extras' I did one a season or so ago with Ian Cheeseman taking us round and Alistair Mann doing a talk afterwards.

Even on a normal tour thought its good value and like you said take in the National Museum as well.

If you are coming all that way I recommend the legends tour, you get shown around the ground by a city legend (big Joe for me) , have a slap up lunch in one of the boxes and then get an escorted tour around carrington by chappie, players were bobbing around while we were there and it was amazing at the level of access we got, we had to wait for lescott to get changed before we could go in the changing room!

Great advice re the museum. Only a 100 metre walk from Victoria. Of course you're in town then. The City shop in town is not far away either. Plenty of places to eat. If you like cycling at all the Velodrome is on the Etihad site. Usually something going on there if only training and they have a good cafe too if you don't make town.

thanks for your input guys, much appreciated.
the football museum sounds worth a visit.
Will plan a trip for early next year.
