Stand leaders

There are definitely non-match going fans on there. And looking at some of the ideas there are quite a few people just taking the piss.

Just one of the bizarre ideas brought up on cityvoice, mind you after some of the recent introductions to the 'matchday experience' this season I wouldn't be surprised if the club did act upon this idea.
Exactly. Whoever at the club came up with the idea for 'City Voice' wants shooting. As does the person who told them it was a great idea.

No one should have any input who isn't a regular match goer.

I agree, the best way to do that would be through supporter numbers and loyalty points.

Loyalty points?! You've started something now mate!

I'm on City Voice over 10,000 points match going blue and I advocated some kind of stand leaders and drums. The atmosphere is so desperate we have nothing else to lose and I see it time and again having a positive effect on other teams support.

We have nothing to lose? How about a stadium without stand leaders and fucking drums?

And this is an odd thing because that positive effect does not carry over to the teams that these visitors follow.

I'm on CityVoice as well. SC holder and on the surveys I've stated many times we need Safe Standing.
This will improve the atmosphere making it more organic rather than being scripted and pre-planned.

I can imagine it now, the stand leaders having to sing specific songs that have gone through the club first, with no swear words allowed blahdeblah.

I like the idea of a Capo but designated stand leaders being versed by the club and CRB checked, along with being racial diversity polls and all this PC shit just puts me off.

I'm not sure who got the email today or whether it has been posted, but these are the results. The wording of the Stand Leader project seems a bit more tentative this time, but we'll see.

No mention of drums, just one lad with a boisterous voice to start the singing I guess. Which I have no problem with trying. In fact I saw an example of this in 107 last week and it DID get a good number from quiet stand singing for a minute.

In the survey that we did we were looking for new ideas that might make a difference to the atmosphere at the stadium this season. All of the ideas that you voted on came from fans like you. Here are the results:

- Your favourite idea was the 'Bluemoon Black-out' - turning the lights out before kick-off. All things being equal, we now hope to bring this back at a match over the Christmas period.

- You also told us that we should work more closely with supporters groups. We currently meet with the 1894 group and will be continuing to do this.

- Other popular ideas included using the website and social media to share and create new songs. We are developing a new series for City TV involving players and fans to talk about their favourite songs.

- "Stand Leaders" was another idea - having one fan in each block to start the singing. There will be a meeting at the stadium this week to recruit fans and discuss this experiment.

- We definitely won't be playing music before or after goals, which is something that you all really disliked.

If they put a stand leader in front of me and I can't see the action on the pitch there will be hell to pay! I go to watch the match, sing when I want, shout when I want and basically enjoy the game.

Sorry but don't come anywhere near my stand or I may break the habit of a lifetime and a) swear and b) use violence!!! :-)

Thought this looked impressive

Give it three years and its could be looking like this :)

Give it three years and the government will declare confetti a choking hazard and make carrying it illegal...

Do they know something we don't?

I get what you are saying with regard to songs to my mind this individual (brave whoever he/she may be) should be given carte Blanche on the songs as long as they are not m@nich related! racist etc just common sense really.

I was near the front at west brom and to be honest acted like an unofficial capo, I have to say that when a group of lads at the back starting singing the songs I immediately joined in and the songs then spread across the whole stand. It can work but people need to want it to work. It goes without saying that without the backing of the majority of fans it is doomed to fail and tbh I think it's sad because the current atmosphere is atrocious.

Bump, did anyone go?

Also on CityVoice they've added another discussion on fan referendums. Most people are just going on about ticket prices/food prices etc. Also the club crest.

This was mentioned and seems like an interesting idea

How to make the stadium complex an entire Manchester Experience. Local beers, Local food etc supplied by local businesses Concentrating on quality, price and overall value for money. Working towards sharing this "Manchester Experience" with visiting fans and creating our own uqique home culture. Given the amount of money the club spends on salaries, facilities etc do we really need to rip people off for the price of a pie and a pint? We have the space within our complex to create something that is very "Manchester" specific and could be very unique. We could even charge the "Corporate" income section more for sharing such a local approach!

On food prices dont know why the club don't drop the prices and save the money by sacking those dreadful city square presenters who I presume don't do it for free. Would be very popular imo.

Am on city voice and certainly no JCL
Wasnt invited to last nights do but i dont think that "stand leaders" had that many supporters on the forum to warrant calling a meeting. For me 1894 are doing what they can at the South / East End of the ground.
I actually think that the kids and parents in the North Stand / Family Stand just need some encouragement to join in more often, there are little pockets of singers now which is great. I dont know how we can get more songs going in the North Stand, as I said on the forum, this fat 50 year old aint gonna make much difference but there must be some ideas out there.
Just like 1894 the club are trying to do something positive and my view is that rather than slag them off for bad ideas we should help them find the non cheesy best solution, perhaps trying the idea of a stand leader at the North Stand may work?

Great idea, mainly due to the fact when songs get going, other parts are out of time.
In Munich there were like 3 different sections so we were drowning ourselves out at times. It's like the YAya and Kolo song, ok KOlo gone but we still sing it. Well why not KIppax sing the YAya part and the south stand the Kolo part. Get a bit of competition going between the sections.

Maybe when the dippers come we can have a bit of banter with it. We do Yaya and they do Kolo.

It's gone quiet(forgive the pun) hasn't it.

Any new news on this idea/proposal since the auditions?
