Cool, accepted your request.

From what I can gather, Jedi Knight = Tank, Jedi Consular = Healer, Smugger = Stealth, Trooper = DPS, though with Advanced Classes, you can refine your class more towards your style play. I intend to go into full healer if possible.

Re: Any Star Wars fans

Right I'm down as Maversith but that's just one of the names I'll use overall I'll think of anew one for alliance when game goes live

Accepted you, there's a few of us getting together now. Anyone else fancy it? Should be a laugh

Re: Any Star Wars fans

I currently play the other Star Wars mmorpg "Star Wars Galaxies".
Last weekend we celebrated our guild/cities 6th Anniversary ingame and currently we are at the cap limit of 500 members, all of which have played in the last 60 days or less. You often get 30-60 people online at the same times.

That said, we all know the new Star Wars game will have an effect on our game. Lots will leave, lots will play both. We already have some ex council members in our game in Beta testing of the new game, and have our guilds set up there already, so once launched we will have around 100 members there. Some other online game communities have expressed and interest in playing under our name there also so we also hope this will get some into the current game also

The videos looks great but we all know sometimes they flatter to deceive the actual ingame play. Time will tell but ill certainly be trying it also.

As for our current game, we had some major events last weekend to celebrate our anniversary and they were open to the entire server and hundreds of players turned up.

Screenshots from them (pvp, pet v pet, fishing etc) can be found at:

What spec do you need to run that?

Re: Any Star Wars fans

Pretty low tbh. The game is now 7 years old and has a cap of 30 frames per second. You can try it free as a trial at http://starwarsgalaxies.station.sony.com/players/index.vm

It helps to choose a server in your area for the ping ie dont choose a USA server if in UK, but they recently closed some servers and gave people free transfers.

With the free trial you can only get to level 25 (90 is top) and have limited chat options etc.

For a 7 year old game its still in very good condition. People here are right in saying back in Nov 2005 they gave us 2 weeks notice only and completly changed the game which meant most left but the last 2 years its come on leaps and bounds again.
The crafting side is second to none, player housing and cities, our City Prometheus on Lok has over 160 residents, 25+ shops, busy cantina, and a mall with over 100 player vendors in, City Invasions for Galactic Civil War, Heroics (like WoW raids), and space.

If making a trial toon and from Europe/Uk choose Europe-Farstar as the server and send me a ingame email to Ziso (my name there) and ill reply and send you some credits to give you a head start

Cheers for the info, might give that free trail a go to get a feel for it. Just want to make sure my laptop will be able to run The Old Republic
Got a compaq, AMD turion 64x2,Nvidia graphics card and 4GB of ram
Its runs World Of Warcraft with no problem so hopefully The Old Republic will have similar spec

Re: Any Star Wars fans

SWG Pre-CU was just an excellent idea. Instead of been a Jedi straight away, you had to level up your character and become a Master in 4 random professions which you had no way of knowing.

Once you achieved this, you became a Jedi and were properly powerful, though if you died often you would lose your "Jediness". This took bloody ages to achieve, but it was actually something worthwhile and a badge of honour for those who put the hours in.

NGE ruined the game, and made the Jedi a starting class. There weere people who had put in hundreds of hours work to becoming a Jedi, then it was wiped and people started brand new Jedi characters. It became a joke and is still known in the game development industry as one of the biggest blunders that a game company ever made. Conservative estimates say that they lost 40-60% of their subscription base near overnight.
