Star Wars V Lord of the Rings?

Having just watched Clerks II, and seeing the scene where they had the argument about whether LOTR is better than Star Wars, it got me wondering what the great minds of Bluemoon preferred?

I myself am a big Star Wars fan, so i obviously prefer star wars. Also, how George Lucas did not win an award for Best Director for this series still completely confuses me.

I love both trilogies (I'm intentionally forgetting Episodes I, II and III of Star Wars were made), and as they are completely different genres of films it's nigh on impossible to compare them IMHO.
