Starbucks

No problem with this...... They will have paid employers NI to the tune of millions and employ a lot of people all over the uk, never mind all the business rates on the shops ...... And I love the flat whites!

This year, I paid over £30,000 in tax and VAT. My accountant is honest and so am I. And by that I mean honest in general, not just according to a particular, detailed use and interpretation of every obscure rule and regulation.

Avoiding paying tax is seen as a game by a lot of people, when what it should be is a crime. Some companies are clever enough to find technical loopholes, but that just makes them clever thieves.

I was just helping the missus complete her self-assessment online & was landed with a not-so insignificant amount of tax to pay.

Reading this I just think f___ it – if they can get away with it so can I.

Old tax payable = £2k. New payable after re-submitting figures £500 ... and I’m being generous. Tory c*&^%!. Vive le revolution.

if the government wasn't to busy trying to rip the small man off all the time then they would have time to close the loop holes and gather the taxes due to them
SO true, so very very true. They have paid fuck all in FOURTEEN years, thank christ Labour were in for 12 of those, sorting them out.
Fuckall in the last 3 years while the torys have been in..
They had a guy on sky news earlier who said while they have 800 shops and employing a hell of a lot of folk, the goverment dont want to upset them...

The US has fairly long arms when it comes to taxation so I suspect Starbucks would have to pay some US tax as well on overseas profits (some/all of which can no doubt be offset against any tax paid overseas but I am no expert on this). I would find it unlikely that they are avoiding paying tax on their UK profits somewhere down the line more likely they are just making the most economical decision for their business.

That's a bollocks, piss poor excuse......................The pub industry has been decimated by successive governments taxing alcohol to death(literally),closing 10 pubs a week, putting hundreds of thousands of people in the industry out of work, brewers, publicans, barstaff, chefs, cleaners, cellarmen etc. Not to mention associated industries ,glass makers, snack suppliers, food suppliers, maintenance workers, etc. & all their associated industries.

If they owe the Taxman then they should pay the Taxman so that me,you & the average working man can have more in our pocket to spend to get this economy going again.
