Statins

good to know, I'm at 6.5 but I've been tempted to go on them anyway
I think 6.5 is fairly high so if your doctor recommends going on them it is probably worth it. One of those things that you just don’t really know about until a medical check up and then you wonder how long it has been that high and the potential damage it has already caused.
It is purely a prevention so it seems odd taking tablets for something that doesn’t make you feel any different.

started off on 80, now down to 10 - cholesterol perfect - could have zero but prefer to have benefit of antiinflammatory benefits as have had CABG x 3

She's on them as well.
I’ve been on them for many years, heard on radio they can give you joint problems. Saw my Doctor and asked if it was worth continuing. He said it’s a choice, joint pain or potential heart attack, no brainer but less boner in my case!

I turned 52 in January.
Was put on them as Cholesterol was raised, not excessiveley but my dad passed at 54 due to Coronory disease and having suffered numerous heart attacks. Had 1st blood test a few weeks ago and levels of bad cholesterol have reduced significantly. No side effects at all so all good presently.
Eating a lot more good food now.
Avocado, blueberries, pro active spreads and drinking green tea etc to help aswell.
Anything over 5.0 range and you need to be a little concerned.
Reading some on here were at 8 plus...christ that is really high.
My overall level has reduced very quickly but will remain on statins for rest of my life I feel.

Been on them for for 4 years after my cholesterol total level was found to be 7.5

After dietary changes and more exercise it's now at 3.5 which is well bellow the recommended 5. Had no side effects whatsoever

Treating cholesterol has been a moving target for decades, with the level considered suitable for medical intervention (usually by pill, but also by injection) getting ever lower as big pharma profits get ever larger.

Not saying fighting what is considered “high cholesterol” today is bunk, merely noting that it is an ever decreasing threshold, similar to blood pressure, which is also a big money maker.

Caveat emptor

Been on them for about 2 months for cholesterol & blood sugar.

The first lot after a week (Scrabble name beginning with A) made me feel shit, after a week I was very rough, went back to the drs and had to have a week without to clear my system.

They put me on some different ones (Scrabble name beginning with R) and I've been fine since.

My blood test last week showed id gone from 5.4 to 3. That's with good eating or should I say better eating, I aways are pretty healthy but a few changes and halfing my booze has helped.
