Doesnt take into account who we have played yet, but we have the least shots over 3 games in the Premierleague so far. From football 365 so wouldnt take the reports are truth but some interesting ones so far
10) Manchester City Can't CrossIn three Premier League games, Manchester City players have attempted 35 crosses from open play. You'd expect them to be successful with maybe a third of those crosses. Hmmm. It turns out only one of the 35 has hit its intended target. So all that money spent on wingers David Silva (£25m), James Milner (£26m), Adam Johnson (£7m) and Shaun Wright-Phillips (£9m) is paying rich dividends then...
9) Newcastle Allow Least Shots On TargetThe Toon defence has been the butt (and we're talking a Titus Bramble-sixed butt here) of jokes since the 4-3 days of Kevin Keegan but that may soon have to change because Chris Hughton's band of merry men have allowed their three opponents so far (Manchester United, Aston Villa and Wolves) just six shots on target. That's the same as fellow meanies Arsenal. Should Steve Harper be embarrassed that he's let in four of those shots? Even Manuel Almunia has managed to make four saves in three games.
8) West Ham Are Fifth Top ShootersThe Hammers are rock bottom of the league and have scored just once in three games. But it's clearly not for the want of trying. Only Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Fulham have attempted more shots than the Hammers, who have fired 34 times towards goal (though hit the target only ten times). Shouldering the majority of the blame must be Pablo Barrera and Carlton Cole, who have had 11 shots between them without a goal to show for their efforts.
7) John Obi Mikel Is The Pass MasterThat Paul Scholes tops the 'Most Passes' and 'Most Successful Passes' list will surprise nobody after his start to the season. But who is that in second place? The statistics would have us believe that the much-maligned Nigerian has attempted 259 passes and 234 of them have been successful. So only 25 have gone astray. Even Scholes has gone awry with 34 of his passes. Of course, he might be attempting to pass it more than seven yards...
6) Manchester United Games Are CleanestGranted, Fulham and West Ham are hardly known for their hard men, but you would have thought Newcastle would have put the boot in a little bit more. So far this season, United have both conceded (22) and won (23) the least fouls, making a meagre total of 45 fouls in three United games. In Wolves' three bruise-fests, there have been 107 fouls.
5) Didier Drogba Is Sharpest ShooterThat Didier Drogba mostly hits the target is not surprising, but the statistics are simply phenomemal. The Chelsea striker has taken eight shots in this season's opening three games and seven of them have been on target. By way of contrast, John Carew has attempted eight shots and only one has hit the target, while Dimitar Berbatov's seven attempts on target have come from a total of 12 shots. Sodding hell, he's good. As a by the by, Florent Malouda has scored from all four of his shots on target.
4) Gerrard/Cahill Creating Most Chances
You would be forgiven for thinking that Steven Gerrard has had a quiet start to the season for Liverpool, but the statistics show that he has been busy creating chances (11 in all) that presumably David Ngog and Fernando Torres have been spurning. Who'd have thunk it? Joint top of that list is Everton's Tim Cahill. As his team has scored just once - and that was Cahill himself - the Australian must be feeling particularly aggrieved.
3) Michel Salgado Is King Of The Tacklers
Was anyone else labouring under the misapprehension that Michel Salgado was an ageing, rapidly-slowing full-back mostly coming to England to look pretty on Sky? Anyone got their hand up will be amazed to discover he's won more tackles than anyone else in the Premier League this season. Second on that particular list is Fabrice Muamba, who is also top of the 'tackles lost' chart. So that'll just be a lot of bumbling around from the Bolton midfielder, then.
2) The Most-Fouled Player Is Liam Ridgwell
Remember when Cristiano Ronaldo used to complain that he was targeted by Premier League defenders because of his trickery? Remember when Arsene Wenger said that more skilful players deserve more protection? Well, spare a thought for jobbing Birmingham left-back Liam Ridgwell, who has been fouled 12 times in his first three games of the season. Do people simply take objection to his face? That would certainly explain El Hadji-Diouf's presence in that particular top five.
1) Manchester City Shoot Less Than Anyone
And we don't mean marginally less...we mean way, way, way less. They have spent almost £400m in the past three years - much of it on attacking talent - but that has bought them a grand total of 18 shots in their first three games of the season. To get some idea of context, traditionally shot-shy Arsenal have managed 45, Chelsea have mustered 43 and even Blackpool have had 26. City's closest, erm, challengers for bottom spot in this particular list of shame are Wolves (24). Oh dear.
