Statues on our empty seats at home……
Better tear down the Franny Lee one then too.Northstand named after Pep is the right thing to do. Not the stadium itself. A statue for Kev is right too.
The criteria for a statue in my opinion should be:
- Longevity - minimum of 10 years with the club
- Delivered in numerous 'big moments' to provide consistent success.
- A trophy haul, which contains all the major trophies that can be won.
- Captained or been a key part of the leadership group for a number of seasons.
- Not just appreciated but idolised by the fans.
- Embraced the culture of Manchester, become an honourary Manc.
Not an easy thing to achieve! And for those detailed smart people, Sergio, David and Vinny didn't do some of the above either, so why get theirs?
Well they were the foundation of the modern club, the enablers and standard setters for eveyone that followed. The real nucleus of the dynasty. They broke the old mould and for that, they deserve the utmost respect!
How about naming some of the Etihad toilets after our least favourite players and/or those who go on to take the media shilling and slag us off (apologies for nicking your list Jimmy89)
- Longevity - no minimum time with the club needed (just general crapness required)
- Delivered feck all in numerous 'big moments' to provide consistent failure.
- A lack of trophy haul, which contains none of the major trophies that can be won.
- Had been a nowhere near any leadership group ever
- Not just disliked but ridiculed by the fans.
- Never embraced the culture of Manchester, and would have been happily driven by any fan to the nearest bus station and given a one way ticket to York.
The Andy Hinchcliffe urinal has a great ring to it.
Eh! Get out of bed the wrong side this morning? Colin, Franny and Mike, deserve theirs too, as they initially put us on the sustained success map. Prior to them what we had achieved was limited. What is wrong is celebrating success exactly? Would you rather the club do nothing for those that served it so well?Better tear down the Franny Lee one then too.
It is like you want a statue for your favourite players but everyone else has to meet a higher standard.
They got statues as Khaldoon wanted to celebrate his achievements, and I'm not sure what say the players got. Any right minded player would just say "no thanks" to the decadent effigy, and I'm not sure fans are too bothered bar the tourists.
Being so desperate to carry out a Gary Neville's suggestion says it all.
I think the Walk of Fame is a brilliant idea.Statues will cause lots of debate. Vinny, Sergio and David S all spent almost 10 years or more at the club and bridged two eras. Mancini/Pellers into Pep But what about Dinho?
I always liked Cheesy's idea of a Walk of Fame like the Stars on Hollywood Boulevard. Running around the stadium there would be room to recognise many more people from across the history of the club as well as more recent legends, off the field greats too Alison, Mercer the Alexander's who steered the club for many years alongside room for Playoff heros, 69-70, 76 etc. With plenty of room for the future heros of this great club. Could be phased in covering different sections of the stadium with an cross section of names released in each phase.
The Statues then become for the truest legends

SAS, I like itNorth stand should be the Sergio Aguero Stand
They didn't all do 10 years and didn't meet your criteria.Eh! Get out of bed the wrong side this morning? Any right minded player that loved the club, would welcome it, a tremendous honour, for those that truly made a difference! I'm bothered actually and been going since 1987......lived through pisscans success, and im extremely grateful in my lifetime to enjoy the karma they got for that Stretford end banner!. Don't be so pathetic about it.....
There’s loads of trees planted as Bony tributes, in fact they’ve moved more than he ever did since they got planted.![]()

The Steve McManaman directional sign
The Roque Santa Cruz physio room?
The Wilfried Bony memorial barn door?
So do I. Joe Mercer way needs to be improved and it could be done like Hollywood with, say a metal image of the player, inlaid into the floor and years at the club. Room for hundreds of players.I think the Walk of Fame is a brilliant idea.
You didn't read my original post did you where I made your very first point? I rightly gave David, Sergio and Vinny a caveat! They didn't all do 10 years and didn't meet your criteria.
The lb for lb most successful player was probably Ederson, he played more games than Kompany in a lot less seasons, won a lot more too.
No right minded person would want a statue of them built a year after they leave a club, it is pretty vulgar the club are doing this before the ink on the P45 dries in some cases. You sack a player then idolise them as some deity?
definitely if Eddy gets oneTrautmann should be there.
