The symptoms of the illness can in some ways benefit most performers, not just comics, it reduces your inhibitions and boosts creativity, it is no coincidence that that many actors, musicians and writers suffer from the illness. Unfortunatly it also has one of the highest suicide rates amongs mental illness, and by the way anyone claiming that it is "attention seeking" is a KFA.

I like him me. I just can't get my head around why someone with all the trappings of a good life would want to toss it all away. Any state of depression I've ever found myself in has been as a result of a lack of funds and a state of desperation that things aren't going to get better. Maybe I'm very shallow.
