stephen ireland

I was one of the lucky ones last night and had to queue for just under 2 hours but it was worth it to meet the legend, very chatty and friendly and when I told him that I'd made the journey from York HE thanked ME for coming to meet him.Another true gent and seemed genuinely pleased to see everybody. Thanks a lot Stevie.

It is great to see him turn a corner after all that Grannygate bullshit with the Ireland team. Have to say over the last few years he has been a credit to himself and the club. All the work he does behind the scenes he seems to have a wise head on him now. A lot of people over here are quick to slate him over everything but most dont know of his off the field stuff he does.

Already a club legend in the making.

I've seen him around town a few times but I've not said anything, I'm sure he gets enough plebs coming up to him talking.

I was talking to him this morning and he was asked after about an hour did he want to finish and he said no he was happy to carry on signing and speaking to fans. The security staff on a number of occasions told him the shop was closing and could he be a little faster and finish and Steve told them to leave the keys with him and he would lock up because he was'nt going anywhere until every City fan had an autograph, photo and the chance to speak to him. He was even more determined that the later it got the longer he would take with fans as they were the ones who had waited the longest and if they were prepared to give up their time then so would he. One fan had been there since 5.30pm and there was no way was Steve going to let him miss their opportunity of meeting him. At the end Steve noticed there were about 15 fans gathered outside who had'nt been able to get in so he made sure that they also spoke to him and got whatever they wanted.I think he said he left at about 9.20pm.

Absofkinlutley amazing story!

Ireland was great at the signing. He seemed a really nice and unassuming guy. He took time to chat, have photos taken and sign items for every fan.

Stephen Ireland is a really great guy, so friendly and down-to-earth, we should be so proud to have someone like him on our team, he's Superman on the pitch and Superman off the pitch.

I even made it onto the video saying that he's my favourite player and how it was so good to meet him.

Thanks Stevie!

What i really want to know is, what is the make of that hat he is wearing?!

I was wondering that too, I should have asked him, my brother said his jeans are really expensive too but I'm not sure what make they are either.
