He is the best player at Villa

I quite like Agbonlahor.

If Villa get good money for Downing then they could strengthen the squad throughout.

Talented player there is no doubt about it that season were he was player of the year he was brilliant how many goals from midfield did he get that season it was double numbers. Him Elano and Robinho back then were brilliant together. They were on the same wavelenght. Sadly for him he didnt fit in the Mancini plans I would of thought he would of been a player Mancini would of held onto when he came to the club how wrong was I.

As for Villa he was in that band of Villa players who fell out with Houillier and he got rid of them out of his squad. I think McLeish may well get the best out of him this season he seems in the Sky interview to be more focused on wanting to play and a focused Ireland is a top player to have in any squad.

we all can say bad things about any player, but what he gave us in 08/09 is something special, he stood out in a team with robinho, and he signed my 08/09 Ireland city shirt, so i will always remember him for that season, if that's all it is.

I thought we had a real winner that season, tracking back, some great tackles and his first touch and passing was superb on occasions. Even all that physical and MMA training he put in during the summer to bulk out and get fitter for the next season seemed to suggest we really had a committed, class midfielder.

Not sure where it all went wrong but if he can get his head screwed back together he could still be a very decent midfielder for a PL side.

How long until he whines that he's the best player in training but McLeish isn't playing him in his preferred five yard square area of the pitch?

I always liked him, but still not sure where it all went wrong...he deserves another chance. Hope he comes good at Villa.

Hughes went 4-4-2, he got injured, Mancini played him irregularly and out of position, his confidence dipped and then he was gone.

A run in the team in "the hole" and he'll be back to his best. The current vogue for diamond midfields or 4-2-3-1 will be good news for him.
