Sterling’s contract - three year extension confirmed

of course I would but if my boss thought I was already on a decent wedge, I would expect some considerable push back
That is what negotiation is all about, you always go in high then meet in the middle ish,i don't understand why blues are taking what they read in the media about himas the truth, the media that knock him down at every turn, none of them are in on the negotiation,it's the agent doing his job and trying to get him a new deal,in football money he deserves a rise after last season

At the end of the day, it is all obscene amounts of money that most of us would never earn in a lifetime let alone a month, and whilst I accept it is supply and demand and a short career, I think there is a lot of greed now in the game

Now I would have no issue with Sterling saying I really fancy a new challenge and would love to play for Real Madrid but the likelihood is his agent has spread the Real Madrid rumour to the press, to try and push City into a corner.

Its gone beyond greed and is just another example of modern football whether it be the players, clubs etc with the main interest being the pursuit of money.

The going in high with the expectation of reaching a compromise is all very good in theory. You need to know who you are dealing with and what the likely outcome to such a stance might be. I have witnessed first hand several attempts at going in high to people being told to jog on. I'm not implying City will be that type of negotiator as I, nor does anyone else on here I suspect, know that. My point is, dont always assume if you aim high, you will be met with a lets meet in the middle response

I think you are correct on both counts and, as I have just responded to @karen7, his agent may have to be prepared for City telling him to do one.

I'm sure he is not asking for sanchez money,he does deserve a new contract whatever it ends up being though as happens when there is 2 yrs left in football

Look at it from his side... If we were to sell him we would get around 100m for him.

So how much does a 100m player get paid on average??

More than 180 per week I think..

As much as we would all love him to sign, I can see why he is holding on.

If he hits 20 goals again this season from the wing he deserves the top money he is asking for.

If he does not have a good season, I’m sure the contract we have on offer would still be on offer for him.

So why sign now if your him.

I think he’s played twice so far this season and has been quality both times. Looks to me like scoring most games and so I think ultimately he’ll get around the top earner money.

If Sane etc. than wants more and they hit the same numbers than they deserve it. The wages are expensive but transfer fees for these type of players our obscene.

He seems happy here and with the adversity he gets elsewhere us blues have got behind him and he has an opportunity to become a real cult hero.

Ultimately he will sign!!
