Sterling’s contract - three year extension confirmed

Then Who should be responsible for failed signing?
That’s his job to make it happen by any means . If sterling heart and mind is set on another club , it is still txiki’s job to negotiate and try to change his mind.
Btw kaka’s situation is like comparing apple to pumpkin.
Kaka was a Milan player but sterling is a city player.
Talking rubbish.Txiki has been marvellous for our club, some fans need to cut him some slack.

Well fuck me, Raheem plays his best game for England..........in Spain !
Im sure the Madrid glitterati were watching, and im scared now were going to lose him.
If Raheem rattles the back of the net like that on a more regular basis, he's in Messi territory imo, and Im sure those guys recognise that, as does Pep.
Get the fucking check book out Mr T.

I don't think we can underestimate Raheem's bottle to let this play out, either, though. He showed at Liverpool he's got a real pair of him, not withstanding the abuse he has had since.
He keeps his cards quite close.

Exactly my view. I think he is a very assured self-confident young man, not to mention hugely talented and very professional. He knows his own mind and I admire him for it. I would love him to stay but if he wants to leave, I will still admire him, and genuinely want him to do well. City are a club with a structure and if he decides to leave there will be goodwill on both sides. We are a club which allows players to leave with dignity, unlike the bitter crowd at Anfield.

I doubt you'll catch many with that.

If Raz is planning for a move away and is determined to run his contract down then Pep's handling of his game time next season will be interesting. For what it's worth I think he will resign next summer.

Seriously? Say he asks Txiki for £5m a week, is it still classed as a failure if Txiki fails to get him to lower his demands?

The Kaka analogy is more than valid, it shows the power is always with the player.

Txiki's job would very easy if it is "by any means" as you suggest.
5 m a week ? Off all the people in here where did you get that figure ?
No what I’m saying is ,give him close to what he wants and if still his camp doesn’t accept the offer than it’s txiki’s fault.
Kaka analogy is irrelevant. Look at the team / club / manger / then and now .

Some people think that the club has a bottomless pit of wonga and that this can be used liberally to either buy players, or pay them mad amounts. Sterling will have
a pay ceiling as far as we are concerned and we probably won't exceed that limit. What that ceiling is will depend on a number of factors from the clubs perspective ,and what Raheem will accept will likewise depend on a number of factors. Clearly the offer of a big money contract with Madrid (should one exist in theory or practice) is likely to colour the lads thinking. I hope he stays but if not let us get a good price for him and look for a good replacement.

If Madrid come knocking there aren’t many players who will turn that chance down.

We need to sell him if he hasn’t signed by January and certainly by the summer. Can’t piss around too long.

Even the the A-Team cannot help us in this situation.

I'm assuming a potential issue may be that his agent wants a Sanchez style deal only secured when the contract is nearly up...

The same arguments for paying him more, to not lose a 100 Million pound asset, is the same reason for selling him if a contract cannot be agreed. Hopefully he stays but, if the clubs valuation is not acceptable lets hope we act decisively, not a la Arsenal, as its too much money involved to let him walk away for free.
