If his new contract depends on his performances in Russia, By That reckoning If he has a shite world cup then he will accept a pay cut.

If he has a great World Cup it will obviously be easier for him to demand more money and of course he's confident in his own ability going into the WC after a season like this.

Are you thick or something? He's a professional footballer. That means this is his job. Why would you sign a contract now when you could go have an amazing world cup and have a stronger negotiating position? He knows how much Pep rates him and has just had the best season of his career and can still improve a lot. He and his agent are perfectly entitled to negotiate.

Crazy isn’t it. imagine thinking that a good World Cup gives him a few extra bargaining chips. You’d have to be a fucking bellend to think that wouldn’t you.

So the scousers were right and he’s only in it for the money then? I’d imagine he’d be offered quite a nice amount of money to begin with. Shame he didn’t take a pay cut the first two seasons he was poor.

He deserves a new contract, he deserves to be paid more after last season. What shouldn’t happen is he try to take the club to the cleaners over it, not saying he is but if the reports are true then I’d imagine Pep would say see ya then. Didn’t see much fuss with all the other recent extensions announced. Hopefully it’s bullshit as there doesn’t need to be made up stuff to beat him with. If it’s true though then hopefully the people defending back track, they were probably the same ones laughing at Rooney taking United to the cleaners....

Rather than speculate and abuse the lad like some are doing, why not just wait to see what the facts are and how it turns out.

I’ll certainly not be back tracking. I rate Sterling as a very important team member and player for our club. He’s been absolutely fantastic. But, and it’s a big but that goes without saying to the rest of the team, if he or any other player try to be Billy big balls Pep will either clip their feathers or fuck em off. I have no qualms with this. We seemed to have ‘blues’ almost wishing lad to be shit and this without any proof the poor lad has said ANYTHING!

To anyone who can’t be arsed to read the whole thread, let me summarise the events that are factual. A while ago Sterling said he would wait till after the World Cup before sorting out his new contract. Now the World Cup is starting he’s waiting till after the World Cup to sort out his contract. Everything else is bollocks
