Sterling’s contract - three year extension confirmed

Exactly. Sky sources state that he wants money on par with the best players at the club, presumably Silva, Aguero and De Bruyne. I say let him go if that’s the case as he’s nowhere near as good as them.

Or here's a thought, how about we negotiate to find a deal that suits all parties?

Bollocks, you haven’t been saying that at all. Your basis to this is that he’s a rubbish player, you have repeatedly said that. An opinion you are entitled to have, but one that shows you to either be clueless or something else.

If it's at the meccano set or candlestick park he gets a knighthood tho.

That is the modus operandi of the RDAHMeedya. Had De Bruyne or David Silva played for any other club then they would need an extension to their homes to accommodate the silverware that comes with individual stellar performances. Wear sky blue and you are sidelined! The fact that the new playmaker award was based on numbers was the only way the 'cognosceniti' that forms the Meedya were never gonna fiddle it and award it to someone like Jordan or Eric!

Wrong.

It is both, not either or.

If its parity with KDB he wants, give him what we have planned with heavy incentives that take him up to KDB level that reward him for finishing his chances better. If he finishes half of what he missed this season he would have pushed KDB for POTS easily.

Jesus, don't people get irrational.
Not that Sterling's wages are anything to do with us, however, Sterling's party have asked for X amount, the club have offered less, further negotiations will happen after the World Cup.

And you believe " Sky sources " implicitly ?

Have you learned nothing about the workings of the media ?

Some right odd fuckers on this thread. Two years left on his contract, his stock has risen significantly in the last 12 months so he's entitled to negotiate a much improved contract, in fact his agent wouldn't be doing his job if he didn't use the great season his client has had to get him a much better deal. It'll probably get sorted and if it doesn't we will sell him but not sure why anyone is angry at Sterling at this point. Seems there will always be some people just waiting for the opportunity to turn on Sterling even amongst our own support.

Very sad but true .

None of us know what IS happening but there sure are some fans on here who want to believe shit they read about Sterling.

It goes both ways, peoples comments are if the reports are true. If they aren't true then no bother. Do we all sit in silence and not allowed to comment on reports coming out about one of our talents? This is a forum and it is for discussing if you are too sensitive to do that then it isn't for you.

What were your thoughts when Rooney took United to the cleaners? I bet you laughed yet have a different view on Sterling. He does deserve better terms, KDB level? No fucking chance. We have had the best season ever, had to stomach Yaya trying to ruin it and now negative reports about one of our stand out performers last year so yeah people might be a bit miffed, with the situation especially. He has been paid handsomely the two previous years where he didn't set the world alight so it would be a bit of a kick in the teeth that after his first really good season he would mess about.

All people are doing are speculating about the speculation but with it being Sterling we need to ignore it and pretend it isn't happening.

Amen to that post

Yes surprising how some of our fans love to join in the bullying. It's human nature I suppose. Some of the comments on this thread have been despicable and can only have been made by those who don't attend matches and don't really understand how our team plays (and how important Raheem is in that system) It's a minority of people but we could do without our own fans getting into bed with our media enemies.

I don't assume he is "trying to take us to the cleaners" but if he is, I have no doubt that City would move him on and personally I'd be disappointed but I'd wish him well. He was one of the stand out performers in THE greatest league season any club has had in the history of English top flight football so does he deserve KDB level pay? I'd say probably not quite but it is arguable and I'd say he certainly deserves to be in the same ballpark. But my main issue is that I don't know what his current salary is, what he has been offered, what he is asking for or what they are going to end up agreeing on. Yes there are negative reports on him but there are always negative reports about him and I chose a long time ago to not pay any attention to them because they are designed only to turn people against him. I'm not going to suddenly change my opinion on Sterling or the people who report on him, it's what they want. The reality is that if the report was about KDB it would be received entirely differently and most of that is because KDB hasn't had the drip feed of negativity from the media for 3 years. Sterling has and even though people know it's mostly bollocks, they still can't help but be influenced by it IMO. Let the idiots supporting other clubs lap this shit up, City fans should be more cynical on the reports and give him the benefit of the doubt.

Not talking about anyone not being able to talk, express opinion, comment, etc. I noticed some people immediately jump to the negative when it's sterling, it's just like the press/media - condemn condemn condemn...... These guys can say what they want but I will call them out as shit supporters each time.

We dont know anything yet! bottom line

I agree.

Many, if not most football supporters need players from their own team that they can criticise, if not bully. It has always been so. The problem for a City supporter is finding someone from our team that fits the bill. 100 points and 100 goals make it difficult.
Bravo fit the bill perfectly, but as a non starter, there is not the opportunity to criticise regularly enough.

The negativity seems to be based on more than football ability to me. Imagine if Sterling improves next season as much as this, and he also started at a higher base level than many will concede.
It may be possible to improve on him , but not a easy as some are trying to argue for WHATEVER season.
