Sterling’s contract - three year extension confirmed

I think normally his price would be inflated on account of being English. But I wonder how much a big English club would want to take on all the baggage that's been piled on him. There aren't too many clubs outside England that would both want him, and could afford him. Maybe PSG?

The thing is if he runs down his contract lots of teams would be willing to give him a huge salary. It's odd to me that all players don't do that. Why let clubs swap money around, at the expense of your own income?

I'm sure I'll get destroyed for this but I wouldn't be averse to selling Sterling and going in for Zaha next summer if the contract situation isn't settled. Both count as HG. Sterling had a great season last season, but I'm still not quite sure what he is, and I'm not sure he can maintain the level he was at. Is he winger? His crossing is awful. Is he a number 10? His general passing isn't consistently incisive enough. 2nd striker? His finishing isn't really there. He reminds me in some ways of Thomas Mueller, not in terms of playstyle, they are completely different obviously, but in the sense that they both produce the numbers and quite often come up with the goods but they don't really fit neatly into your typical systems and formations.

Zaha would offer more or a traditional winger to play opposite Sane.

Yes it’s possible but you’d have to say it’s unlikely. Firstly, he is not a natural striker. With his pace he is a winger or wingback. Secondly, and this is only my opinion, and I expect some pushback on here, he looks nervous in front of goal. He often appears to freeze and ends up falling over or losing control of the ball. I know he scored a lot of goals last season but a lot of them were tap ins and to be honest he missed a boat load more.

I like Raheem but I am not convinced he is, or will be, one of the elite players, in the Silva, KDB, Sergio or Kompany category. I can see Sane, Bernardo, Foden, Stones and maybe Mahrez getting to that level but I just don’t see it in Sterling. To my mind that makes him a squad player and probably expendable if his demands become unreasonable.
I hope you’re wrong, but think you’re spot on.

He needs some serious coaching on finishing and relaxing in front of goal. In addition, he needs to stop downblind alleys and losing the ball. Fix those two things and he can go as far as he wants.

Gullible.

He is most certainly is. In the fucking extreme.

I wouldn't take anything in print of any daily rag. Not one of them. Even less so when it comes to Raz, who has been slaughtered across the board by every single one of them at some point.

We have a fragmant of our supporter base who are thick as fuck. That they still get suckered in by this shit absolutely perplexes me.

Totally agree

I've just read the last few pages.

He's a rag imo. No other explanation.

Block 230 Colin Bell, also used to be in 304 East Stand when we first moved there, and before that upper Kippax when seated, and before that Kippax standing,oh and before that Platt Lane................the team I support play in blue lad. No other explanation

If true Karen, which I dont fully believe it to be, why did Sterling (whether advised or not) decide to see how he performed in the WC before making a decision to sign an extension?

She won’t reply, or if she does she will completely ignore what’s been said. She can’t constructively discuss topics she’s overly passionate about. Her head goes

She's not the only one,and it is pathetic,I'm a rag, weirdo, who should try rugby,or another sport apparently, forums for a debate but not against Sterling it appears, there is being defensive and there's being defensive, but this topic certainly goes to a whole new level

Why wouldn't he ? We aren't going to offer less than we were, there may of been a chance he could of got more. He had nothing to lose by waiting.

To see if he could get a better deal.

Jesus did the same.

Probably the biggest thing an agent would point out.

Is there any chance that he wanted to concentrate on the world cup so said "we'll discuss the contract when im back, there's no rush". Now hes back talks will start again, find some middle ground and sign a new long term deal. Or does that not fit the media script....

On last season's performance you lose a shedful of goals.A shedful of assists; a player who works tirelessly, is striving to improve year on year and is only 24.

But hey, they are ten a penny, right. ?

That's far too sensible a post. Delete it and start calling Sterling a snake cos some journos from a paper I wouldn't wipe my arse with says he wants Messi level money.

Very rarely runs down blind alleys when playing for City. The first part I agree with but he's getting that from Arteta and showed improvement in this area last season.

So if they won’t busdge on what sterling wants we will sell next season? Well I think sterling will just not sign and move on a free in 2 seasons if that scenario plays out!

Personally I reckon he knows he is on a good thing at City and sign a new contract.
