Sterling’s contract - three year extension confirmed

How so? People claim his England performances aren't as good because of the players around him so it is only fair to say he benefits from playing in a world class team. Put him in an average team he wouldn't stand out and get the numbers he does would he as the last month or so shown.

You're right he 100% wouldn't ever replicate last season if say he left this summer for any other prem team. He relies on people feeding him the chances and he's not getting the likes of Dave, Kev and Leroy anywhere else

I like Sterling a lot, he was a key player for us last season and i think if he stays longer he'll become a much better player under Pep. But, with the greatest of respect to Raheem, i don't think he's irreplaceable unlike someone like KDB. Mahrez will offer something different to Sterling, but there are other players out there with the same characteristics as Sterling who could do a similar job.

He hasn't missed more than usual lately, it is how he plays he will have a 1 in 4 kind of strike rate. The press have nothing to do with his form, he played very well last season whilst still getting a bad press. He needs to sign a new contract and carry on with his improving form he has shown since joining us.
His finishing had been terrible since the utd game. Before that he wasn't missing as many, see number of goals he has scored.

He clearly Is impacted by outside pressure as witnessed at Liverpool games.

He isn't a robot, seeing all the negative stuff written about him will impact his game as per above point. And like he said people just don't like him for whatever reason, he feels it .

He's missed some real sitters lately, more than usual, his goals per shot ratio has gone down at the same time too.
Coincidence that the press/media ramp up of hate against him comes at the same time? I think not

I see a player low on confidence in front of goal.

I have said before; please do not attribute other people's posts as if they are my opinions.
Any top City player would not be as good in a poor side. This is because they all play to a similar level; where workrate matches incredible movement. Football if you need reminding is a team game, where the strengths of individuals combine with others to overcome any weakness of the same individual. For instance Davi Silva; has so many strengths, his relative weakness in front of goal is overlooked.

Sterling has earned the right to play at this level, at 23 he has 200 appearances at the top level and scored 40 goals. A great return when you consider he is not an out and striker. His improvement has been fantastic since he arrived at City. Continually developing different aspects of his game.
What you fail to grasp is that ALL the current players are at the elite level, that is why we had 16 players at the World cup. All look better for playing with a group of comitted, talented players, most ; if not all ,would look poorer in another team.

Can't argue with any of that, 192 PL appearances, 49 goals & 49 assists for someone who essentially is a winger and who has played there for most of his career.

He is a top player who has made a significant contribution. I hope he signs and continues to blossom.

He was a standout in an average Liverpool team the season before we bought him.

Especially before Rodgers hung him out to dry over the contract negotiations he pretty much carried them.

Had a great season and I'm sure he can replicate it again for us, but he needs to sign his contract soon. The annoying thing is if he doesn't, we'll either sell him for £15mil or he'll go on a free, especially when the likes of Richarlison are having £50mil bids thrown at then.

I hope Sterling stays. When you actually look at the other options available to him, which club is a step up from City?

We can offer him more money. He's based in England with his family. He's being coached by the greatest manager the game has ever seen. He's almost guaranteed trophies whilst playing for us.

The only clubs you could argue are a step up are Barca or Madrid. Madrid can't possibly win the UCL again without Ronaldo? Barca aren't the team they used to be and Sterlings most natural position is similar to Messi's. There's no other club that can offer him the money/success/coaching that we can... so why leave?

Agree with your first 2 paragraphs.

Last paragraph - Real Madrid could definitely win the CL again, especially with reinforcements. Also Messi plays in the 10 these days, wouldn't hypothetically affect Sterling if he went there.

Because of THE motivation of 99% of modern players...........Money.

We will only offer him a certain amount, he wont be offered the same as KDB or Kun

You have dropped some serious drugs if you think they are the reasons he wouldn't end up at Barca or Madrid

Seems a bit simplistic. Not all players are solely motivated by one thing. Money is a big factor in every bodies lives. I know a good chunk of players are on silly money, but short careers and the cut throat business of football, you can understand why there is a little part of all players to look at financially bettering themselves. Don't get me wrong, some take it to the nth degree, but most aren't as bad as they're made out to be, if you look at it rationally.

Most would look at dropping players, as soon as there legs go, Zaba being a prime example. Top guy, great player for us and ran through brick walls for us, I love the guy and always will, but as soon as his pace left him, we were looking at replacing him.

I thought he'd already left judging by some fans predicted teams for next season...

Behind only Kevin, David and Ferna for consistent performances last year and with 23 (twenty-three!) Goals, he must be doing something right.

I like Mahrez, but he isn't replacing anyone - especially not Raheem.

Sterling is most susceptible IMO,and while replace isn't the right word,he will be his alternative.

My favoured 11,as we stand

----------------Eddy---------------
Walker-Stones-Kompany-Mendy
--------------Dinho--------------
-------Silva-------KDB-------
Mahrez-----Aguero-----Sane

I think Sané is just as susceptible, he now has genuine competition for his place from Sterling.
