Really impressed with how quickly he is delovpin he's going to be as good as if not better than bale for me! So do you think we could turn his head? Got to try and sign him for me cos I think he will on madrids radar after nsxt season.

Still very raw and lacks an end product most of the time. Wouldn't come to us anyway and don't see Liverpool selling to us so no point thinking about it.

Not a chance he will be better than Bale, he will never have Bale's power and he's not got Bale's quality left foot either. Bale was taking freekicks even when he was a teenage leftback, because he had that quality. Sterling is all pace and directness, he's not particularly good at anything other than running (which he isn't going to get any better at). He might be able to become a very good and effectve player, but the best players are fantastic footballers who happen to be good athletes as well, Sterling isn't a great footballer.

Stranger things have happened.

Realistically though he's the number 1 at Liverpool. Why would he come to us ? Who would he displace from our starting 11 ? Silva ? Nasri ?

It would be nice to snaffle him up as one for the future or even cover for Silva and Nasri but it won't happen.

There's no way we'll be able to get him. How about making Marcos Lopes our Sterling!

Really excited to see how lopes develops this season hope he gets enough games somewhere as for sterling maybe not this season but after world cup and champs lge next season if liverpool fail to qualify next season could see him looking for regular champs lge football

Could have nasris role for me

Just another Aaron Lennon. He will get sussed out next season unless he can add another string to his bow.

I disagree, he already has more end product than Lennon in my opinion and Rodgers will make sure he develops into a technically all round player.

I don't think he will be the next Bale because Bale's physique and size has made him the player he is but Sterling is already a better player than Bale was at his age so it's a promising sign for the future of England.

I think Walcott is the far more obvious comparrison. All pace, just about able to dribble at speed(ish), ok technically, can sort of finish, doesn't really look up much and pretty average passing and crossing. I think he dribbles more capably than Walcott but lacks his finishing. It'll be interesting to see if he develops better than Walcott did, maybe being trusted to play centrally more as opposed to being stuck out on the wing

Disagree with those doubting his footballing quality. I haven't seen much more than 10 full games from him, but I've been very impressed. Think playing w Suarez is and will continue to have a huge impact on his career. Right place, right time for me. England's future looks bright, and contrary to the popular belief, the foreign influence has been a main contributor imo.

Agree. Sterling is a far more intelligent, composed and cultured player than the likes of lennon and other english wingers who we've seen have bright starts to their careers but fade away due to their primitive styles of just running at players

He reminds me a lot of SWP in his first spell here. His primary weapon is his pace but he's growing as a player and has now been trusted in a central #10 role on occasion for club and country.

However, he's still very raw, has never played in European competition and plays in a system that suits him down to the ground at Liverpool with the very quick counter attacks. Considering that he'd probably cost £30-40m, I'd much rather we look elsewhere before you even consider the minimal chances of Liverpool selling to us. If we're looking to improve that area then give me the young, far more developed and far more experienced Sanchez any day.

Walcott only learnt to finish a year or 2 ago.

Sterling is the type of player we need, fast and direct. Although Sterling would be ludicrously overpriced and I would rather we signed a more established player like Sanchez or give Lopes a chance.

He always had that Henry technique for side footing it for the far corner, he just never got to use it much when stuck out on the right wing for Arsenal

He was a crap finisher when he joined Arsenal.
