He's going to be important for us in the remaining games, given Silva's injury. Anyone with an eye for the game should be able to see his ability, as condescending as that sounds.

As much as I loathe the old pisscan, I remember a quote from Ferguson about how bravery on the football pitch is not about winning tackles, but wanting the ball all the time and not shirking it. I think he cited McManaman as his example, but Jovetic is the same. A lot on here have questioned his desire, but he certainly doesn't go missing when he's on the pitch.

unlike a Mr Nasri....who shirked all responsibility once again on the pitch tonight.

Dead right. Nasri is back to his worst, taking the safe option and going backwards time after time. Jovetic looks miles more dangerous. Deserves to start.

if you didn't know him better you'd think he doesn't want to go to the World Cup, because he won't get called up on those performances.

This with bells on.

Was hoping he might start but he showed his quality again. Thought some of the fluid link up and movement with Nasri that came naturally to them both provided a lot of encouragement. When Nasri floats about and moves the ball he doesn't really penetrate and often looks like he poses little threat, but with Jovetic he seems to have someone on his wavelength with that little extra attacking know how, skill and directness that can make the most out of Nasri's movement and 1 -2's. Nasri to me often looks like he doesn't have the tools to open up defences but Jovetic does, and him intertwining with Nasri and Nasri's runs dragging players out it will open up space and hopefully allow us to get a lot of goals
Come back when jovetic and his little flicks get
Intercepted and lead to opponents counter attacking.
Nasri keeps possession and might not make defence splitting passes but we have the ball.
jovetic On the other hand can play fancy stuff and when it comes off can look great.
But a bit hit and miss. Imo.

Just having the ball isn't good enough though. We usually have a lot of the ball and too often for me Nasri doesn't do anything with it. I don't really expect anything to come of it when he's on it, unlike Silva and Jovetic who really look to hurt teams
Look on nasri as the water carrier for silva and yaya.
He links the play.
In tonights game would you have played jovetic instead of nasri ?
Where would jovetic fit unless you drop one of sergio or edin ?

I would've dropped edin. I'm way passed ready to see that jovetic-sergio link up.

I'd probably drop edin. As I said I thought the link up with Nasri and Jovetic was very good, and it looked potent as opposed to nasri just looking harmless

I don't see Nasri as a water carrier and although he links play at times he sees a lot of the ball in the opposition final third and does very little with it, mostly. When Jovetic was on they looked like they could hurt opporsition

Jovetic has to start against Crystal Palace.

If I have to watch yet another 90 fucking minutes of Nasri strolling around in front of an organised defense I'll lose my fucking mind.

Add to that his willingness and ability to get into shooting positions and actually have a shot. Silva is sublime but often opts out of shooting when well positioned, usually at the edge or just outside the area.

I think he overdoes the shooting. It seems like 90% of his game is about playing one twos around the box to get a shot in. He doesn't really seem to be doing a great deal to set other players up. Which is why I doubt that a partnership with Aguero would work. Paradoxically his goals have mainly been poachers tap ins.

I just think he's missed so many games, that's he's desperate to bag a goal every time he gets on the pitch, that might make him look a bit selfish, but it's understandable. I reckon his partnership with Kun would flourish if they were playing together regularly.

The guy's touch is silky smooth. Best in the entire squad from what I've seen. Such a pity that we haven't seen him play with Aguero, Nasri and Silva. A season of them 4 playing together would have been spectacular. if not this season then hopefully next (i.e. no need for a new big money striker).
