City always 'not yet received any written offer'

delay...delay...

That does seem to be a common theme in all of our transfer dealings. Glad the Nastasic deal went well and they're happy to work with us though.

All teams are happy to work with us, we pay cash up front, not 500k a year for the next 40 years like some of these clubs try to take the piss with (*cough cough* Rags).

Edited.

Aguero, Dzeko, Negredo, Jovetic would be the best strike force we have had in recent years.

not even close.

So what is better then?

Aguero, Tevez, Dzeko and Balotelli?

Put it this way, i would rather have Negredo and Jovetic over Tevez and Balotelli. Tevez was a sulker and he rarely played in the title winning season and as for Balotelli... well... he has got to be the most overrated footballer i have EVER seen at Manchester City. He was non existent. Sulked all the time, lazy, not strong enough, greedy, poor team player... i would honestly we had had Andy Carroll on loan. Would of been much better for us.

Jovetic pisses all over Balotelli and Negredo would work hard for the team. Tevez was a great player, but he was a big ego, a loose cannon. On the pitch he gave his all, but off the pitch he was a problem. We need a good harmony amongst the squad, not a bunch of egos who either cannot be arsed, get sent off all the time or bring us bad press every 5 minutes.

-- Wed Jul 10, 2013 10:48 pm --

Hard to get excited by a striker who will get half a dozen goals a season

Was Zola and Bergkamp renound for scoring goals?

He's scored more than a full dozen goals in both of his last two seasons.

I wish some Bluemooners would actually watch some of these footballers on Sky or ESPN instead of basing everything on Wikipedia... the narrow-mindedness is really astonishing sometimes.

Go and look at Bergkamp's goal scoring stats each year for Arsenal - would he strike you as a 'Forward' you would want based on them?

Like Bergkamp, Jovetic has qualities beyond putting the ball in the net and can play in several positions that aren't the main man up front.

For all his potential I just never trusted Balotelli.......and was never happy with his laziness and couldn't care less attitude.

I would have trusted him if he'd been our consistent sole striker, up top on his own where he's best. That was never going to happen with Aguero, Dzeko AND Tevez.

Trusted him? Good one.

-- Wed Jul 10, 2013 10:52 pm --

I'm sorry. It would be good but Tevez, Aguero, Dzeko and Balotelli beats it hands down.

This new foursome would have a better work ethic though, they would also be committed to the club unlike Tevez and Balotelli.
Tevez AWOL for 6 months (2 years ago) and Balotelli missing for a half a season (last year).

Tevez>Jovetic>Negredo>Balotelli

Balotelli was practically useless in his half a season last year and tried to lose us the league at times 2 years ago.
AWOL for two years, what is your point? Does that make him any less of a player? He is still the best striker we have ever had, won the golden boot with us and captained us to our first trophy in the new era as well as firing us into the Champions League. Balotelli was a liability but I would have him rather than Dzeko or Negrado.

As a foursome, they are undoubtedly the best we have had in terms of individual raw talent. It is a shame we didn't get Pellegrini in earlier because he might have got them playing well with each other.

I hope we sign Jovetic though, he is class.

Balotelli over Dzeko... are you mad?

Can anyone see the word SNUB there? ;)

Manchester City close to sealing transfer of Stevan Jovetic.. and putting one over Manchester United

Late Moyes move looks likely to fail as Fiorentina forward's agent spends Wednesday in lengthy talks with the Blues

Manchester City are poised to see off a late raid by neighbours Manchester United and complete the £28million capture of Fiorentina forward Stevan Jovetic.

New boss Manuel Pellegrini has pushed hard to land the 23-year-old Montenegro international, who had also been targeted by Arsenal, Chelsea and Juventus, for his new-look Blues.

But while the new Old Trafford chief David Moyes made a last-minute attempt to try to prise Jovetic out of City's arms, Pellegrini is on the brink of winning his first Manchester battle.

Jovetic's agent, Fali Ramadani, held intensive talks with City sporting director Txiki Begiristain on Wednesday after the Florence club gave the green light.

The deposed Premier League champions have offered a five-year deal worth £80,000 per week to the attacking midfielder, with Pellegrini believing he could be a crucial piece in a title-winning jigsaw.

Jovetic, who had been keen to stay in Italy, is now ready to commit to the City project, although Ramadani told Begiristain he will not sign anything until a final round of talks with both the Manchester clubs.

Fiorentina, though, are keen to continue their close relationship with City - fostered by the deal that saw Stefan Savic go to the Serie A club when the 2012 champions landed Serbian strongman Matija Nastasic last August.

They have blocked any negotiations with Juventus, with whom they have a long-standing rivalry.

And while the champions have not given up hope of enticing Jovetic to Old Trafford, it appears City and Pellegrini are in the box-seat.

Recruiting Jovetic would be a huge coup for the Chilean, who pledged to play a more attacking and vibrant game than under Roberto Mancini when he was officially unveiled on Wednesday.

Can someone explain to a simpleton like myself why we haven't submitted any formal bid?

If reports are true that we've agreed terms with the player himself, and we really want to sign him...shouldn't we be getting the formal part out of the way ASAP?

For me, the longer we delay, the more chance of us losing out and being made to look a bit foolish.

Maybe I'm missing something, so don't shoot me down in flames, but surely putting in a bid should be an immediate priority and get the job done and dusted?
