28m pounds!
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Iscooooooooo Noooooooo!

I have seen reports coming out of Italy that it is 26m euros + bonuses.

Hmm. That's about 22 million pounds. Anyway my personal opinion is that 1. I wouldn't pay over 15 million for Jovetic 2. Jovetic wouldn't have been my top replacement after Isco.

Anyway as people love to say here, it isn't my money so as long as he delivers, I've got no qualms.

The argument that you should not be concerned how much a player costs because "it's not your money" is one of the daftest things I've seen on here recently.

Unless you believe we have a limitless budget and/or don't care about FFPR, then logically you must accept that we have a transfer budget.

If our budget is £80 million and we spend all of that on one player, that people think is worth £5 million, then of course you would be right to query the amount spent; not because it was your money but because it meant your club had wasted £75 million that could be better spent elsewhere.

You even have people expressing an opinion and then attaching the caveat " but I suppose it's not my money" for fear of being brought to task by the posters who think this is actually a valid point!

If you think a player is a waste of money just say so, you might have a good point, whereas the reasoning that it doesn't matter because its not your money so stop moaning shows a complete misunderstanding of how the business of running a modern football club works.

lol. I did mention that I think 28m for Jovetic is a huge waste of money considering that Real got Isco for 20-23m.

Next apparently Txixi's and the majority of the forum have something against paying the family etc.

I'll say this, as much as I would love to deal with straight up transfers whereby all I have to deal with is the club of the player I want to get, we all know that not every team and not every player works in that way so if I have to bend over and give a player's father 5m to get the possible best player, I will do it. Isco was the best out there and because we are playing it too straight we will be spending 10m pounds more on a player that isn't as good as Isco.

Good post. Transfer budget- the clue is in the name.

Jovetic won't cost £28million. £28million is £2.3million more than his supposed release clause. More reliable (than the Daily Mirror) Italian media sources today have the fee at around £21million to £22million + bonuses but I don't think the true figures are known yet.

Pissed me off for a while too.

Not particularly excited by Jovetic, although there is some potential there. I just don't see him as an upgrade or even an equal replacement to what we've lost in Tevez. And if that £28 million fee is legit it's not fantastic that we've paid practically the same amount for him as we received for both Tevez and Balotelli combined.

Honest question. So between Nasri, Isco and Jovetic, which one is a better fit for us this upcoming season (not 2 or 3 seasons from now) on the left side, and I understand Isco is no longer an option, but I would just like to hear some opinions on what you think. I don't know enough about Jovetic to give my own opinion on all 3. Or put another way, who would be your first choice, and so on.

Isco would have been the perfect fit for us. Isco would have been our X factor if MP used him like at Malaga.

Jovetic best position right now is CAM, just behind the main striker which is Aguero's position till we see what MP does. So if Aguero maintains that position Jovetic will probably play left which I don't really know what to say. He's not super fast.

The fact is Nasri could really be one of the surprises this year, I feel like with MP he could be reborn and Nasri has a lot of potential. In a 4-2-2-2 tactic Nasri could do really well.
