It does not work like this either as you mix central and offensive midfield...

If you take the strikers. Mandzukic, Pizarro, Gomez - occupying the one striker position in the 4-2-3-1 scored together 32.

Müller, Ribery, Robben, Kroos and Shaqiri - who occupied the three offensive midfield positions -- scored together 38 - that is 12.7 goals per position in the offensive midfield.

Schweinsteiger, Gustavo, Martinez, Tymoschuk, Can - all part of the central or defensive midfield - 2 positions in the 4-2-3-1 - scored together 16 - that is 8 per position.

The defenders and fullbacks scored 8 goals together - that is 2 goals per position.

So Bayern's striker scored 32 goals.
Each of the three offensive midfielders scored 12.7 goals - or together 38.
Each of the two defensive/Central midfielders scored 8 goals - or together 16.
Each of the four defenders scored 2 goals - or together 8.

What do you mean 'it does not work like this' ?

Bayern have people like Robben & Ribery who play more like forwards than midfielders (although tbf to them they worked hard in Europe tracking back).

We have more traditional midfielders but more strikers.

Last season they were all average, the season before, they all scored an acceptable number of goals.

Now we are strengthening again & changing one or two, but the answer is simple enough: play better= win stuff.
But the impression i get is we're changing system no? Tevez and Dzeko seem likely to leave.

If they do, we have Aguero, Navas, Silva, Nasri and sort of Yaya currently as our attacking players.

Who there do you have confidence in to score enough goals for us? Aguero i expect to have a better season, but the rest, we can only hope score more, they don't have a history of it.

The original point was whether we need another clinical striker, because Bayern don't. But Bayern have players who score right through their team, we don't have players we can rely on like they do.

Unless we keep Dzeko and Tevez, i believe our next signings have to guarantee plenty goals otherwise we'll struggle to score enough.

I have no idea who is staying or going. Just rumours.

Well since the thread is about one of their potential replacements it seemed a natural hypothetical base for the discussion.

More noise in Italy about City having first refusal.

I can see him turning up if Nasri departs.

Or Tevez.

Nasri won't leave, I think towards the end of the season at during those post season friendlies Nasri started to look settled and looked a proper player.

Jovetic will replace Tevez if anything in my opinion.

Just a thought on this transfer. It it happens my goodness we're going to have some attacking pace in the team next season.

With the increasing likelihood that both Tevez and Dzeko will be departing i'm beginning to believe this may have legs.

Is it possible him,Cavani and Isco will all be signed?

I am unsure with Cavani but the rest sounds plausible.

For me,i reckon that would comfortably provide us with the best squad in the league and a very good opportunity to shine in the Champs league.

Still think we're going to be short defensively which is worrying.. But this isn't the right topic for it

Looks exactly like the kind of attacking player we should be buying.

Very good technically, great close control, two footed, has vision and scores.Would be delighted if he we can sign him.

At only 23 he could have years being a top player, with City.

If we signed all those I have mentioned and we get a back up center half I think we should be looking to challenge for the Champions League, even with the squad we have now we should be challenging for the CL.

According to the Daily Mirror, Jovetic is heading to Manchester City, as they are prepared to pay Fiorentina’s €30m asking price.

While the Viola demanded cash only from their rivals Juve, a good rapport with the Citizens means they could accept players as part of the deal or even lower the bar slightly.

City struck up a good relationship with Fiorentina when they negotiated the transfer of Matija Nastasic last summer and hope that the goodwill that the two clubs enjoyed last summer will continue when they try and sign Jovetic.

The striker is thought to be worth around £25 million and Jovetic has already stated his intention to leave the club this summer for a top European club that are challenging for trophies.

Maybe Pantillimon, Kolorov and Cash ?

Some Italian pundits compare the Fiorentina pearl to Roberto Baggio for his poise and mastery of the ball.

Others claim the 23-year-old is like Gianfranco Zola, because he operates closer to the goal than the divine Ponytail did. No one disputes his class.

Jo-Jo, as he is known in Italy, grew up an Andriy Shevchenko fan, and can play striker, behind a centre-forward, on either flank or midfield. Impeccable technique, finishing, range of passing and fine vision underpin his flexibility.

Primarily right-footed, defenders should refrain from showing him onto his ‘weak’ boot. There isn’t one. And if that sounds too good to be true, Jo-Jo is a pacy, sinuous dribbler, despite being a shade over six feet tall.

“I like to play as an attacking midfielder, I like space and a lot of the ball,” says the starlet. Last season Jovetic played in several roles for Fiorentina, including second striker, centrally in an attacking trident and on the right wing.

The ability to switch with teammates, create from out wide, profit from flick-ons and time runs into the box would make him a valuable commodity
