Isn't Jovetic a player that was of our interest with Mancini at the helm?

He was - some reports we moved for him last year in the 5 days we decided to reserve for transfer business but couldn't get the deal done in time.

With Tevez 29 and Jovetic 23, one playing in England and for Argentina, the other in Italy and for Montenegro, how can anyone compare both???

Anyway, Jovetic is highly rated, but I'm not sure we're that interested. Unless City tried to wrongfoot the media. I think it's one of the targets from our former managementteam.

Does Tevez play for Argentina?

Not anymore, his position got took over by Messi.

No complaints there really.

He doesn't even get called. Messi, Higuain, Aguero, Lavezzi, Palacio, Martinez, Barcos, Scocco, Gigliotti, Mugni, Viatri, Funes Mori and Di Santo are forwards that have all been called up more recently then Tevez.

Jovetic is so plan C - good player but really not great. Coaching report will say 'competent and capable' Probably closing the gap on Tevez as Tevez fades but he won't take us to a new level. No issues with signing him but won't get excited.
Agreed. Watched him play over the last few seasons. He's okay, nothing worth breaking the bank for.

From what I read mate, the reason Tevez is not in the team anymore is because he limited Messi.

They dropped him to build the team around Messi as Tevez has such a huge influence over the team as he was like the nations hero.

If they kept him on the fans would demand he played, so they had to drop him so they could focus the team around Messi.

I know...just a joke. Trying to point out to the Carlos fans that he can't even break into his national team anymore.

@Oddschanger: Who will #MCFC replace Tevez with?

Lewandowski - 20/1
Suarez - 16/1
Cavani - 12/1
Jovetic - 4/1

Don't think Juv will sign tevez and Jovetic, so he could be coming to city
They've been making enquiries to his agent so they're going to try not sure if they'll be able to strike a deal with fiorentina though

We could do with some proper pace up top as well, and Jovetic has bugger all of it

Not true. He's not got Aguero's pace over ten yards but he's not bloody Zabaleta. And who would you bring in that has "proper pace"? Muriel? Good choice if so.

Jovetic used to have loads of it, but the injury slowed him down a bit. Luckily, he is talented enough to have been able to change and adapt his game and anyone who has watched him regularly (rather than two games against England - see also Neymar) would know that he's going to be a top player.

It may well fit the ffp criteria, as well tikkis future utopian vision of the club paying relatively low basic wages but high performance related bonuses.

Fact is though that, imo, replacing outgoing individuals with cheaper less talented alternatives is only going to take us one way.... And that certainly ain't onwards & upwards

The two spaniards are only going to lead us down the garden path IMO, Jovetic makes sense as he can play wide or up front, more use to the squad, better than having a "Balotelli" sat around not playing all season.

Fuck the FFP its gonna be laughed out of court sooner or later anyway. This guy is a cheap alternative, we need a stella name to replace Carlos this guy in the short term aint gonna cut the mustard.

FFS. were not bloody Arsenal. Jovetic is better than Tevez. Think Van Rapist with far better dribbling ability, not saying Jovetic is better than Van Rapist but he will be soon. Soon.

I guess its all about opinions.... personally I'd take a 29 year old Tevez ahead of Jovetic anytime. Jovetic is a good player but I don't think he will be the impact player we need in our forward line.
