Steve Bruce

Proof if it were needed that strings are being pulled to keep as many ex-rags as possible in high profile jobs. Just have a quick look at Bruce's abysmal track record in football management: Sheff Utd, Huddersfield Town, Wigan Athletic, Crystal Palace, Birmingham City, Wigan Athletic (again), Sunderland, Hull City, Aston Villa, Sheffield Wednesday, Newcastle Utd, West Bromwich Albion and Blackpool - and he's fucked up at almost every single one. Same with Shrek, proved time and time again that his ignorance and gross stupidity sets him apart from most other imbeciles within the sport, and yet after disastrous attempts at management he lands a job as a pundit on MotD.

It beggars belief that in this country such incompetence is being rewarded.

One thing in mitigation for Bruce is that he usually goes into clubs that are in trouble, and he steadies the ship.

His win percentage is on the low side, because he has won promotion with several teams, then they struggle in the higher division. Wigan, Hull and West Brom are typical example of clubs he has brought up to the Premier League, then came up against far superior opposition.

A friend once likened him to a dinner lady, that made me chortle at the time, for some reason.More clubs than Jack Nicklaus.

I always think of him as being the obligatory fat chef working in the kitchen, downstairs in some grand house somewhere, like Bridgerton: sleeves rolled up and arms covered in flour, barking orders at the underlings and curtsying to the members of the aristocracy "I knows me place, ma'am."

How many of these managers who played under the pisscan have actually gone on to do something amazing .............i know there is a few with promotions or have kept teams up but on the whole they have been fooking crap.

To be honest that has been true of British managers of virtually any managerial heritage over the past 20 years or so.

It has become fashionable to hire foreign managers, most of them fail and move on but the law of averages on how many foreign managers get the big jobs is heavily weighted in their favour now.

Yet but for some reason this band of brothers seem to get employed time after time and maybe if these clubs gave a lower league manager a shot they may be shocked.
I mean Wayne fooking rooney how many chances as he had on the back of him playing for United ?????

Has suffered thru the loss of his grandchild last year.
Always thought of him as a decent fella but sadly not the best manager..

Yes, there hasn't been a really outstanding British manager since the GPC.
But, as the GPC had a network of relatively successful arse-lickers (Fat Sam, Pulis etc.), you'd have thought the ex-MUFC players would have been performed better with Rag loanees and "expert advice" from the curmudgeon.
In fairness to Mark Hughes, he is still trying to succeed at Carlisle United...
