Thanks for that. As you say, it could be BS. On the other hand if there's any truth it would explain a lot. Apart from being unsackable, he would no doubt not 'allow' him to resign even if he wanted out - at risk of being left to support one of the bridges on the M65.

They seem to suffer from the same affliction Brian Kidd did, as coaches, behind the scenes, they perform admirably, and can contribute greatly, but as the front man, charged with tactics, teams selection, man management etc, they just don't have the tools for the job.
