Hearing sad news that Steve Priest of Sweet has died.
He was my first bass playing hero, and introduced me to the great sound of Rickenbackers.

They were the band that led me from the pop of Little Willy, through the glam of Blockbuster, into the hard rock world through their B sides and albums. Massively underrated as a band and musicians. Just leaves Andy Scott now.

Oh, no. RIP Steve.
My first music heroes, the first record (Blockbuster) I ever bought- 8 years old, the band that got me on the path to rock music, the band that got me started on guitar.

Just googling Sweet stuff, and surprised myself by coming across a song I didn’t know, thought I knew them all. The surprising thing is it’s from 1970. On hearing it would have said it was more like what they would do post Chinn and Chapman not before.

Sad news. My first musical band and at 10 I thought Teenage Rampage was a call to arms and I wanted to be 13 to sign up....

Will have a blast in the car later coming back from work.
