Radio 2 - the embodiment of bland. No longer a station for the listener just about the clown presenting . Aimed at people like my mother who now hates the station. In 70/80/90s used to have great presenters like Wogan/Young/Moore/Jacobs. They used to let the audience dictate the mood and direction of their shows. Now we have, on the airways we pay for, utter dross such as Feltz, Evans, Wright, Vine (my brother is funny - maybe, but you are a disappointment), Paige. All smug fuckers who only seem to talk about themselves (the meme culture)
Only decent presenter now is Craig Charles and he is hidden away late on a saturday night. Since Wogan passed away, their best show was midnight til 3am and, in January they finished that due to 'cost cutting', Alex Lester had a massive following through the night. Inventive, funny and played great songs from many different genres.
It is thought that Steve Wright is on £400,000 a year and they cut the best shoe (correct spelling)
Problem is BBC radio has national coverage, unlike most radio stations, and by default people listen. Radio 6 is good but only on DAB
Ken Bruce once said to Terry Wogan that Jeremy Vine was broadcasting for the narrow minded
Bring back Mark and Lard (albeit from Radio 1)
