why would Gerrard leave them to come to us because hes chasing the premier league trophy. we wont be winning the league this season or next season and if he were to leave, which he wont (right before the world cup), then he would go to someone who would be challenging for honours in the immediate future, which we will not Gerrard is going nowhere.

really what the fck are we doing now then, semi final of 1 cup,6th in the league with a game in hand which if won puts us 4th

THIS - but I think we all know a title challenge is probably a bridge too far this season!

I see no reason why with a couple of "world class signings" {back room staff and players} we shouldn't be challenging for the title next season.

There are issues to be addressed and I hope that Hughes can do this.

We have to take heart that even with 10 players against Bolton we were still the better team

Can't see us getting Gerrrard - certainly wont come in January sales
- Im sure Chelsea would attempt to match what we offered to Liverpool and he would end up there if the transfer was on the cards

So whose decision is it then? The Queen's?

The mob in Liverpool - whom Mr Gerrard seems to have a relationship - he has given character references to a few 'dodgy people' over recent years it's alleged. He also seemed to go off the idea of a move to Chelsea when a few undesirables had a word in his ear! I heard that Gerrard's wife used to go out with a high profile mobster pre Gerrard - so the rumour goes. That said Alex Curran seems to get a lot of bad publicity so that could be be bull.

Personally, Gerrard is so Mr Liverpool I wouldn't want him in a City shirt. It would be like signing Bryan Robson errr yuk.

Its some of his old childhood mates who are pulling them strings, 1 of them may have had a fumble in Alex's knickers round the science block inbetween classes.

Dont know if I've missed something, but in an early edition of the evening news there was a big headline on the back pages
saying £100,000000 bid for both Torres and Gerrard, didn't get to read it all though, as anyone read the full article ?

Gerrard wants to win the Premiership before his career is over. He's given Liverpool 5(?) years (since he nearly left for Chelsea) to do so and they have failed and looking at their squad and finances it doesn't look like they will be challenging for quite some time. He could well be tempted to come to City in the same way Barry was. I think we can challenge for the title next season.

Man City have a history of settling for journeymen passed their sell by date.Quality Pros who were "Losing it" in the past treated Maine road like an “Elephants Graveyard” to see their final years out, and collect a fat wage, Steve Mcmanaman being one of the worst culprits. If Gerrard came here I would see no change in that mentality .Gerrard has seen his better years with his Loyalties going to his Beloved team. He is possibly crocked as far as im concerned, he cant see a full season through anymore without injections or an operation, and has passed his prime. Torres on the other hand has under achieved at Liverpool, and still has an extra yard over most Prem Pros. I would have Torres in January for sure.No thanks Steven.

torres has underachieved at liverpool... you mean, liverpool have underachieved whilst he's been there, rite? 'cos since joining, he's gone from being one of the top twenty strikers in the world to one of the top three. still, how the funk do you play him in a team with adebayor and tevez? dump ade? yeah, alright then. I love Ade but torres is beyond lethal.

as for gerrard, he's not at all what we need. well, he is, but no more so than stevie ireland.

the whole thing is a bit of an attempt to wind-up the scousers, I'm sure, because they wouldn't be the players we need right now. there are three types of players i'd be looking at: outstanding fullbacks... a david silva type winger(i.e. one who can provide width on either flank, who can cross and deliver pinpoint passing), and an allround midfield general (not an attacking midfielder like gerrard). oh and I'd also get luisao and let him adjust to the premiership slowly.

I applaud you and everyone else that is thinking positively and backing our team.

Torres would be unreal.. I just can't see it happening
