Ireland is City's player of the year

Stephen Ireland has been voted Manchester City's player of the year.

The midfielder has been one of the stand-out figures for the Blues in a campaign scarred by inconsistency.

And, after being overlooked in favour of Ashley Young for the PFA young player prize, the 22-year-old has now gained some consolation, ending fellow Irishman Richard Dunne's four-year hold on the trophy.

Ireland was the overwhelming choice of City fans, beating Vincent Kompany into second place, with Pablo Zabaleta in third.

Teenage striker Daniel Sturridge, who has still not signed a deal for next season, was named the young player of the year despite an injury-marred campaign.

1. Ireland
2. Kompany
3. Zabeleta

thats the order i would have placed them as well.

It's weird I saw something somewhere last night suggesting Robinho was second with 15% and Sweep with 11% or something, then I saw Kompany and Zab, who actually came second and third. Hmm.

That was the result of the Live4City/Junior Blues poll

I agree with Ireland being player of the year..

but not sure (as good as they were), Zabba and Kompany being above Robbie..I mean, more consistent yes, but when I think of this season some of the class he has produced (consistently) at home (at least), has been brilliant..

whats better..being good 90% of the time or being world class 50% of the time..

which one wins you matches? ;)

just my thoughts...

in addition, not sure about Sturridge either...

They should be moving everything to sign him up for a few more years, before the bigger clubs (so to speak) come in for him.

Yes it was!!!!!! except SWP got 12% <a class="postlink" href="http://www.mcfc.co.uk/default.sps?pagegid=" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.mcfc.co.uk/default.sps?pagegid=</a>{DBD12D53-8346-431D-A04F-5D0F8664DE80}&newsid=6632887

So Sturridge plays a few games, does ok in a couple and gets the Young player award whilst Caicedo scores a handful, improves vastly and does well in almost every game and only gets runner up?
