JAMAICA'S most prolific scorer in overseas domestic competition this season, Steven Morrissey, notched his 15th goal Monday as his team, VPS (Vaasan Palloseura), lost 2-1 to Kuopion Palloseura (KuPS) in the Veikkausliiga (Finland Premier Division).

Ali Koljonen scored in the 37th minute before Morrissey equalised in the 60th to become the second leading scorer in Finland's top-flight league, behind Irakli Sirbiladze of FC Inter Turku, 17 goals. Aleksei Kangaskolkka of IFK Mariehamn is also on 15 goals, with both him and Morrissey setting up four other goals.

In terms of contribution, however, 26-year-old Morrissey leads the pack scoring 42 per cent of his team's goals, ahead of Kangaskolkka, who has contributed 31 per cent of his team's goals.

Nigerian Dudu scored in the 89th to seal the victory for KuPS, who registered their 10th win of the season to stay coincidentally in 10th place with 36 points.

VPS are in seventh place in the 12-team league.

Scoring seven of his goals in the first 30 minutes and starting in 25 of his 27 matches, Morrissey is averaging a goal every 152 minutes.

A Portmore United player, Morrissey has one more match to top the Veikkasuliiga which ends this Saturday, October 27. VPS will play cellar team FC Haka at 6:00 am Jamaican time.

Last season, Morrissey scored four goals from 11 matches for VPS during his two-month stint.

Another Steven Morrissey ;)
