Not really seen any threads with this idea and if there are then I apologise in advance and welcome a merge but would anyone else take Steven Taylor as our Central Defender to play alongside Kolo?

He would be pretty cheap as Newcastle couldn't afford to fuck us around like Moyes & co have, he scores just as much if not more than JL and I reckon he is a very good defender who always seems to give 100%. Why have we never considered him when the likes of Villa and Arsenal have allegedly made enquiries? It would also leave Moyes in the shit with an unhappy defender and no transfer money.

I would feel slightly harsh on JL for leading him on but I reckon if we paid £20M for him and Everton then go and spend £5M of that on Taylor I would feel robbed!

Everton have opened talks with newcastle for him!

Cue: lets bid for him lol

I think he's a different 'type' to Lescott. More Terry/Dunne, than Ferdinand/Distin. I don't know if that makes any sense but I'm going to bed now.

Press reports this morning strongly suggesting him in talks with the Blue dippers.
Hopefully, this will now allow the silly Lescott/Gollum stand-off to come to an end.

"No, if any of the Newcastle players it would have to be Bassong, nobody else."

Bassong has already gone to Spurs.

Taylor would be a good option, young and already has a good understanding with Ned from the U21s.

Or Wheater from Middlesbrough?

But Hangeland has to be the obvious alternative if he isn't going to Arsenal.

Taylor and Wheater are both garbage. They are no better than our 4th and 5th choice centre backs Dunne and TBH!

But can you really say you would be satisfied if we got Lescott for £20M then Moyes spends just 1/4 of that on Taylor. I really would feel ripped off and wondering how he still came out smelling of roses after the way he's acted!
