hes had 1 good season, and sometimes inconsistant season for me. he has been great at times this year but tbh there are better midfielders out there. anyone who wants to start slinging shit because i dared to say st. stevie is less than perfect ask yourselves this:
would he get in any of the top 4 sides week in week out? if thats where we aim to be he would have to get used to being a squad player

So would Bridge get into any of the top fours starting eleven?

What's wrong with parity?

I did this sum yesterday so I'll repeat it for you

Ireland -5 year deal £90k per week = £23.5M. Loves the club. No settling in period. Will die for the shirt.

To buy a player with what we think is the same ability, same age and same potential
Mercenary player - Transfer cost £15M. 5 year deal £60k per week = £30.5M. Plus no guarantee he will settle, or give it all for the shirt.

BTW, is Jo cup tied?
sorry i cant remember mentioning bridge. there are better players than steven ireland out there, available. its that simple really. not sure on the jo question but someone told me last night that we're getting a new kit... keep it quiet though wont you

it's very simple when you're sitting at your computer... your argument is fine when you look at one case in isolation, but by that logic half of the squad would be looking for a new contract to bring them in line with Bridge.

i think exactly the same as you! Alot of football fans are very impressionable, Ireland has a good few games early in the season and someone in the crowd says; "Ireland's fookin brilliant isnt he!?" 50 people then start singing Ireland is Superman...!" an d someone in the pub talks about how good he is! All of a sudden Ireland is a culy hero! But the reailty is that he has been excellent in some games, average in others and about 8 or 9 times he's been shit, he has! but not everyone watches and judges our players objectively, they just blindy support and think a player is fanstastic wothout actually looking at his game and where he's been going wrong!

Dont get me wrong i love the lad and hope he does really well for us, but to be moaning about money at his age and with the fact he has had a good but inconsistent season, i think he needs to bring his head out of the clouds a bit and be greatful that he's been offered a good contract at 22 years old!

Come on Stevie dont bring stuff up like this in the media again!
