Sticky keys - no double leters

I am having trouble typing a double letter - so if I want to type "football" in a post it comes out as "fotbal" - I therefore have to go back and insert the missing letters laboriously.
How can I restore the ability to type double letters?Is it a Windows 10 problem or what?
