stockport in administration

Frankly I think it's bloody disgraceful to be happy about any club going in to administration. Think of the bigger picture... for football to survive it needs a strong structure all the way down to the grass roots.

One other thing... there by the grace of God.

Couldn't agree more, but I think you mean There but for the grace of Allah!

I was going to say by the grace of Elano, but I fear his time at the club may end soon :-(

I live and work in Stockport, with a few County fans working at the same place, and yes they did take the piss something rotten when they were in the league above us back in the day, ad it was agonisingly awful being looked down on by them, but come on lads, show some grace and dignity. some people seem to have very short memories, when Thaksin took over we didn't have a pot to piss in, we were stony broke and up to our eyes in debt. fast forward to only last summer, once again we are borrowing money off the former chairman to pay wages, borrowing even more money to buy players and in serious danger of going to the wall until Sheik Mansour came to our rescue. And if nothing else, spare a thought for the people who work there, instead of sniggering at their clubs demise. It would be fantastic PR, and a show of solidarity if City could make a donation to County to help them continue(not sure if they could do it within the laws of the game)
football clubs are the heart of many communities, and to see another on the verge of oblivion is a poor day for football in this country

another point to realise is that with all the high class foreign players in the prem it is local clubs like county who offer young local english boys the chance of a career in the game

I'm glad a few people can look at the bigger picture. I hope people on here get more sympathy when/if they lose their jobs. I also know a youth player at County and this could destroy dreams. Whatever we think of their fans people's livlihoods are at stake here.

Stockport's problems stem from the time of Brian Kennedy's ownership. He invested around £4m in the club but supposedly got fed up after he couldn't see any chance of making a return on that. So he sold Edgeley Park to Sale Sharks, leaving Stockport with no assets and heavy debts.

They were bought out by their supporters but it no looks like they will have to sell the club to survive. They've been trying to find a way to buy the ground but for one reason or another, it hasn't happened yet. There are quite a few really good people involved but sadly, we've only seen the nobs on here.

He did not sell the ground to Sale, he already owned both the ground and Sale, that was the reason for buying County.

The trust started on an even keel.

I echo the sentiments of this post . It's a real shame for football and for the folks who work there too. and a short time ago it could have been us
