What great engineering...built 300 foot up, with big arches to let water flow through in case the River Mersey flooded.

What wonderful forward thinking, current day planners could learn a lot from the Victorians.

Yeh it would have to rise 3 hundred feet ,the trains would be OK up there but ,the rest of Manchester would be like Atlantis
So lots more forward thinking imo haha
 
I work trains regularly over it. Stunning views over it too.
 
Growing up in Hazel Grove i saw it often when my mum would take me into town to go shopping and i just thought every town had one.
Only as i grew up did i start to look at it and think "wow that is pretty impressive".
